British tenor Philip Langridge died last Friday at age 70 after a short bout with cancer. Langridge had a long relationship with London’s Royal Opera, performing roles such as Basilio in “The Marriage of Figaro” and Loge in Wagner’s “Das Rheingold.” He also originated roles in works by contemporary composers, and won two Grammys for recordings of Peter Grimes and Arnold Schoenberg’s “Moses und Aron.” In 1994, Langridge was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II.

I believe that it was you who originally pointed out that we have way too many dead people threads. We could just pin a celebrity deaths thing in Discussion. But I've never heard of this guy, don't have any pie, etc, so -- *exits*SlappyMcGee wrote:Thanks for your post.flagmyidol wrote:I guess I'm ignorant and from Texas and stuff, but this just doesn't mean as much to me as MJ.hairscapades wrote:British tenor Philip Langridge died last Friday at age 70 after a short bout with cancer.
