With Brawl+, its possible to JUST have the feature of saving infinitely long replays, without screwing up anything else?

absolutely!
In fact someone made a whole codeset that makes no gameplay changes. I forgot what it's called but it had stuff like changing the default settings to stock, a custom character select screen so you can easily select Zero Suit Samus, unrestricted camera control etc.

Well there is no point for me to do brawl+ because I got to tourneys and stuff. Removing bugs and tripping wont help me with my tourney game at all. The only reason I would hack is for the replays.

Spudz, we should try hacking yours for the replay purposes, then we can use my wii for tournaments, since we probably don't need to bring both of ours.

In order to play with hacks you need to go through the homebrew channel, so you can still play vanilla brawl by loading the game the normal way. There's no reason you can't have hacks installed and simply boot vanilla brawl instead if a TO objects to it.

You asked for it! Haha. Here are some vids from a tourney yesterday, only against one person though. I placed 4th in doubles and I think 7th in singles. I made so many mistakes first match, and I wish we had the third one because I remember playing really well. Anyway here is my Snake and Jiggz.mattk210 wrote:Spudz sounds awesome though.. Don't have a youtube account so I'll comment here:
nice! you have a similar snake style to me, lots of just-in-case grenade dropping, and you read the yoshi pretty well. I feel that the yoshi player needed to learn to dodge a bit better though -- the C4 you kept hitting him with and your uptilt was pretty cringe-worthy.
I've never really seen a good jigglypuff though, and that jiggs match was very entertaining. I'll have to give him a go sometime. (I hear they improved him in Brawl+)

I almost always underestimate his jigglypuff, considering he will only play her every other time I brawl with him.mattk210 wrote:spudz:

She can really rack up damage, and you got some really nice kills in that match, its a shame the other vid got cut off D;

Dair to Rest is way too risky. I wont attempt it that many times in a tourney. That one rest was so close though!Condog wrote:Dair to Rest dude. Use it.spudzalot wrote:You asked for it! Haha. And thanks Matt. One of the biggest problems I see with me is that I drop grenades too much. Like:
0:13 Right next to me and I shield drop.
0:27 Running at me and I lay down a mine.
0:35 Could have easily comboed into up tilt or something but dropped a grenade.
Ill work on that...

This game doesn't have enough hitstun to be able to chain together attacks properly as in melee. Using canned move sequences like that makes you very predictable for people who've played you before. I think dodging in and out repeatedly to scare your opponent into thinking you'll rest is more effective than the rest itself (at least that's the impression I got from the video)Condog wrote: Dair to Rest dude. EDIT: Actually, rest being so fast, that particular combo might be one of very few that's assured. Hmm...

Drill to rest is a true combo. But if your opponent is smart and mashes the control stick to try to steer out of your attack it is much harder to aim the rest at them. But if youre opponent just sits there and doesnt try much easier to pull off.

I have a new connection, and when I have a little time, I'd like to run a test to my connection with one of you guys.
By the way, I'm currently training with Fox (one reason being the fact that I wanna show my younger brother Fox is very good - he gets really frustrated, cause fox isn't as good as it was in SSB - when Kirby vs Fox was an epic, epic, eeeepic battle) and I'm liking it, although the fucking side+b is too much...suicidal. The recovery isn't the best too.
My brother isn't a challenge anymore. I really want to play online.

The transition from Melee Fox to Brawl Fox is like breaking both of his legs and giving him lung disease, but there is actually a Fox player in the top 5 in our Power Rankings. The best approach for Fox is falling at them from above and doing d-air then comboing into d-smash or up-tilt. Personally I dont like fighting Foxes.Donfuy wrote:I have a new connection, and when I have a little time, I'd like to run a test to my connection with one of you guys.

Also my connection just got a ton better from last night so I'll be looking for some Brawls today. Before it would disconnect from my computer like once a minute and I would have reconnect and do all of this crap to try to fix it. Not even reseting it helped. >.> But yah looking for matches today and will also be on IRC.

Well, I wasn't really talking about Melee, but the original SSB, where you had so much fucking time to think about what to do next (I realized many of the techniques I learned in the original were useless in Brawl, mostly because of the speed difference). SSB Fox had more power in every attacks. The attack that was useful in combos and he lost in Brawl, was the side smash (correct me if I'm not using the appropriate terms). It was powerful, fast and with a good recovery.spudzalot wrote:The transition from Melee Fox to Brawl Fox is like breaking both of his legs and giving him lung disease, but there is actually a Fox player in the top 5 in our Power Rankings. Now, please, let me ask you masters a few stuff about those terms:
d-air=down-normal attack (while falling on air: fox rotates himself)
up-tilt= a little jump and a kick upwards, in the case of Fox? At least, that's what I do, I raise the guy, and I kick him up.
recovery= the ability to recover from far far away, to grab the ledge and back in play AND if used when talking about attacks, the time it takes to recover from an attack.
^^^^ These are askings =D

up-tilt is when you press up and attack on the ground (but not smashed). Fox does a sort of overhead kick with one leg. Good for juggling. It's one of the harder attacks to get used to because if you press up too hard you jump or smash up instead.
Otherwise, your vocabulary is OK. Really, there's many acceptable terms.

If you want to get use to using up tilt more you can always turn off tap jump, that way you don't accidentally jump when you are trying to uptilt.

hmm.. I find that doing that makes it inconvenient to play on someone else's wii, or to play melee. Being able to easily press the stick lightly is also helpful for some other things like some of IC's infinites.
