I tried a few custom levels for World of Goo - some of them are just junk but some of them are intended for a whole higher level of player than most. Kind of like the custom levels for Portal, they're extremely well made and extremely difficult.PsychoSnail wrote:I found a 3rd party tool called GooTool that supposedly allows you to do quite a lot of things, including adding custom levels. I've yet to try it, but it looks really cool.
And yeah the soundtrack is a huge portion of the game's quality.
Much too often we focus on so called graphics.
"I don't care what the game is, so long as it has good graphics."
Well if you want to look at cool digital renderings watch one of the Transformers movies.
Design is completely ignored in video games these days and World of Goo has *tons* of it. Good design that makes a game look visually appealing trumps high end tech any day.
And above all things World of Goo is a game. Too many games these days are more of a visual experience than they are a game. I think some game designers have forgotten that they're supposed to be making games above all else.
