Anyways, I've gotta some feedback regarding the format of the battles. 6 vs 6 without any changes to the team can easily favour the player with the better lead for the duration of the round and such. So I was thinking of adding some variety in way of introducing an interchange system, with two bench Pokemon, totaling eight altogether. (Six party, two bench.) Between games, players can switch in the either or both bench Pokemon for the next game. However, movesets, EVs, etc cannot be changed. Any suggestions?
Yay or nay? If you guys like the idea, I can introduce it as soon as the next round commences.
Also, attached is a league table reflecting all results up to Round Three.

I like your Bench idea, works very well at adding spice. While the table I wondered what the 'For Against' meant, that's like 2-0, 2-1 etc.George wrote:Also, attached is a league table reflecting all results up to Round Three.

Yeah, every game you win counts as 1 in the 'For' column and a loss contributes to the 'Against' column.Chase wrote:I like your Bench idea, works very well at adding spice. Incidentally, I'm really not feeling this anymore. I'd like to pull out, since I doubt I'll get it to work otherwise.

I vote nay on the bench idea. We can already rearrange our team order between the individual matches of a round, right? That seems fair enough without introducing an unheard of element to an already established system. Switching it up halfway through a tournament doesn't seem that great of a plan. Besides, picking a good lead is part of what makes it Pokemon. I think a better solution to that would be to have us use stadium mode and 3 out of 5 per round instead of 2 out of 3. But I would vote nay to that as well, just because the classic 6v6 style is already underway.

Secondly, I'm not on your chart? Is it because I lost twice? ;_;
Thirdly, a format change would be nice. I realise that we do all strive for a balanced team, and its to our own teambuilding detriment if we're unable to provide counters for things, but playing three consecutive matches with the same teams can get pretty samey. I'd like some sub opportunities not only for the extra possible countering factor as much, but for the differing factor as well. It's more interesting to see how a team goes against another team that's mostly the same but with minor tweaks, than possibly playing the same match and being walled by the same thing each game.

Yeah example, my last match with Demonz I could predict that his Aero would stay in after I Fake Out'd with my Infernape, proceeded to switch on the SR etc.KinGAleX wrote:Firstly, I've been trying to get in contact with Cheez but he hasn't been around when I have. I'm PMing him now.

I think we should have a themed round soon. Like, NFE's only. :P

OU is so tiring it's really just the same stuff over and over again, and stadium mode is basically the same thing you were already talking about only without the hassle of keeping track of a bench. With your idea, what's to stop people whipping up two total counters to their opponent's team after game one? They can just be like oh yeah these are totally my bench Pokemon. To make your plan work you'd have to make each of us register our teams ahead of time for the sake of fairness and that is more complicated than this needs to be. The six introduced in the first match of each round should never change anything other than order. Pokemon swapping and team building should be kept between rounds only, not matches.
Also the competitive UU/NU pool is like twice the size of the OU one, even after factoring in the UU's that are viable in the OU meta.

I think the idea was meant that the two benches are revealed before the match starts or something. To balance it out. I do like it a lot. Making it UU/NU including BLs now would be much more fun.Zivilyn wrote:If you really want to spice things up, bar the use of OU along with Uber, and make it Stadium Mode fights.
