As said by many people, it depends on the game. Things like the Sonic series, the Zelda series, and a lot of independant games have excellent music; you don't need anything else. Also Guitar Hero, but that's obvious.

Er... How can you be shot by noobs in single player? That's all I have to ask. Although, this is more about whether you listen to music when gaming.

While referencing this, you've also turned it into a hate message about noobs...

Did I mention how good the music of some FPSs is, though. When playing single player, games like Halo you don't need extra music - it's already good. However, a lot of online FPS don't have music for online multiplay, of which is when I start to substitute music in.

Wait, so you have speakers playing the music and the sound from the game coming from headphones?
Or are you saying you play both on headphones but keep the music quieter?

Nono, all through the earphones. Just mine are really high quality, so the sounds are all separated well enough to hear sound notifications perfectly. Music is low anyway, just for ambiance. I find TF2 plays much better with a little more atmosphere.

Music? In an FPS?

Wait. Sorry. It's made by Valve, of course there'll be good ideas...

Somewhat often, though I usually go for the console games, therefore pretty much eliminating the ability to play music while gaming.

I enjoy more background type music. For example, M83's Lower you Eyelids to Die With the Sun.

Seeing as how that's the type of music I usually prefer, usually, I'll usually listen to something like that, usually. But, as i said, I usually play console games, so I usually can't play music while gaming, usually. Usually, though.
