Best computer game ever made. It has over 100 hours of game play if you do the side quests. Side quests include things like ruling your own castle. THATS A SIDE QUEST! This is a great game, and would be cheap on EBAY. You should get it.

The best computer game ever made is clearly Metal Gear Solid on the Ps1.

Balders Gate series is ok. Diablo is better.

Diablo fucking rules, but props to Baldur's Gate for using D&D Mechanic.

Eh, it's alright. I never got around to finishing it because all the dungeon crawling became a bit tedious, especially when I hit the level cap halfway through the game.

Excuse me... what!
Bull-fucking-shit. Baldur's Gate has had so much more professional effort put into its main story, side-quests, and character development that comparing it to Diablo is just plain fucking insulting. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you've played BG I for five minutes before your MTV-generation attention span couldn't handle an actual plot line and had to bail. You instinctively ran to the flashy candy colors of Diablo II for comfort and blamed Baldur's Gate for not providing constant mindless thrill accompanied by brighly-coloured, epilepsy-inducing visuals. Am I right?
Ha, who am I kidding? Of course I'm right.

Anyway, trick to beating BG II is to dual-class Kensai level 9 with anything. Mage is most hilarious.

Oh dear, too much caffeine today Suki?

There's more to gaming than plot lines and character development, that's not always what I'm looking for. Thanks for the concern, though.

although i liked diablo II about 3 times more, BGII was also a lot of fun - my brother and i would take turns trying to kill zombies with a knife and no armor.

I call bullshit. You probably haven't even played it yet.

Anyways, I just create a massive 6-person team and use it all for myself, so I never get new characters. It's hella fun though, especially with the wild-mage setup. (Hermaphrodite spellcaster that levels up 5-levels for short periods of time? Count me in!)

After playing through a few times to make sure I hit up all of the countless side-quests, my strategy for replaying tends to be creating a 5-person multiplayer party so I can still have one NPC to swap in if I want their quest.

I really like Minsc!
Also the characters can have some hilarious interactions. Has anyone done the quest where the awesome mage Edwin turns into the girl Edwina?

Wahaha. I'd try, but I'm stuck with a iMac on vacation. Are there any Mac patches for Baldur II?

I have no idea.
If you like Baldurs Gate try the Icewind Dale series.

Ha! Look at you all, playing RPG's with your fancy graphics.

Ascii is where its at. Imo nothing can beat the hordes slaying hordes of goblins in angband, or sacrificing trolls to the god of death in dungeon crawl.

Anyway, back to the topic, I thought diablo was too restricted, but by the sound of it balders gate is awseome...

It is, but only if you're more interested in playing casually.
When I think of Diablo, I think of all those times you round a corner to find thirty enemies all waiting for you, and then you backpedal desperately while trying to kill them. Baldur's Gate is much more chill and slower-paced.

No, pen and paper is where it's at. I just don't know anyone in real life who plays them except me and the vent games happen way too late at night for me.

I'd love to do pen and paper games, unfotunatly none of my friends strike me as the kind of guys who'd be interested in an all night D & D session...

Why do I pay for a Ventrilo Server if none of you pigfuckers who are interested in D&D come and PLAY it?

Because none of you who do play like to play it at a reasonable time for GMT people.
