Cellphones: are they harmful?

Okay, so far, research about cellphones causing brain cancer is under debate, so I decided to talk about this topic. Most people have cellphones, right? And my question is: Are cellphones harmful to our health?

It has been researched that cellphones DO change the way our brain cells react, but not much about brain cancer. Do you think cellphones are harmful because they cause brain cancer? Do you think they aren't because you have been using these for many years and still no brain cancer? Or maybe you think it depends? Answer here.

For me, I think it depends. As long as we are careful in using our cellphones, and we buy low radiation-emitting ones AND don't use too much, we are safe.

Man, everything causes cancer. Dave unknowingly sat on a cellphone once and it gave him ass cancer. Ass. Cancer. Boy he won't be happy when he meanders into this thread and sees you talking so light-heartedly about such a delicate subject.

Seriously though, we moved past radioactive, brick-sized cellphones, and akin to not sticking your head in a microwave, you'll be fine as long as you don't tape the damn thing to your ear for about three years, which you should probably do if you want to apologize to Dave for being so jolly about his predicament. Ass cancer, man, ass cancer.

I imagine that shooting radiation through your head might increase the chance of you getting brain cancer, yes. However, as capt_weasle stated, damn near everything causes cancer these days and it's probably not going to be a huge problem unless you tape a phone to your ear.

Scientists say that cell phones cause brain cancer.
Clinical trials have shown that homeopathic solutions can cure diabetes.
Studies have shown that more children will try crack cocaine today than will read a book.

I am aware of zero studies that show that kind of causality. Inform me before you weasel in a meaningless "scientists have shown" to qualify your opinion.

Radio waves are flying through people all the time. What is it, exactely, that allegedly causes brain cancer?

HAI GUYZ! I THUNK MAI LAPTUPZ GUNNA KILL MEH CAUSE LIKE IT SENDS OUT LIGHT AND LIKE IT GOS LIKE IN MAH EYE! RADIATION IN MAH EYE! OH NOES! EYE CANCER!! AND LIKE EVERYONE HAS LAPTOPS NOW BUT EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE GETTIN CANCER!! THERFORE IT'S TRU!! MY STUDY MAKES SENSE! RITE? GAIZ?

Also, ever notice how you can use a controlled study to "prove" anything. Correlation =/= proof.
ExüberNewsFeed: Exuberance is mostly <AFF> (Away From Forums) for a while, though I may still participate in epic contests/threads. When I return, I shall bring several comic updates (enough to finish season 1) and hopefully 1 or 2 games- at least one of which is N-related
Comic Activity-O-Meter: (how often I'm updating my comic)
(Click here to see what each level and half-level means in terms of updates per time period)

NOTE: If I just add a bunch of comics in one day, but plan on going back to normal after that, I probably won't update the status.
+ Dead: Canceled. Done. Maybe you'll get a random comic like once a year, but it's pretty much done.
- Zombie (Dead/Comatose): The comic is probably done regular updates forever, but I'll probably still add something once in a blue moon. It's still POSSIBLE, that I'll raise the status up, but not very likely. Maybe I'll have a comicplosion for like a week, then go back to being dead
+ Comatose: Complete stand-by. No (or very few) updates for some amount of time, but the comic's far from being over
- <AFK> (Comatose/Loitering): Stand-by, but you might possibly count on a few updates once and a while. Again, this is temporary
+ Loitering: Like comatose, but for short amount of times.
- Turtling (Loitering/Semi-Active): Really slooooww updates
+ Semi-Active: One every 2 weeks...ish?
- Quasi-Active (Semi-Active/Active): Averaging about 2 comics every 3 weeks
+ Active: Loosely defined status, but about a weekly update
- Over-Active (Active/Power-leveling): About 2 comics a week
+ Power-leveling: About 3 comics a week. Possible a schedule, possibly not
- Über-Epic (Power-leveling/COMICPLOSION!!): In some cases, this may actually be mean updates more frequently than COMICPLOSION!!, but I'm defining this level as a non-organized comic rush, kind of like a few days after my comic started
+ COMICPLOSION!!: Daily updates for a minimum of 5 days (since the daily updates started. It remains at this status until the 5, 7, whatever days are done)

It depends, I think that maybe some of there waves are effecting HUMANS, Cell phones could also be harmful to little children, If a child from the age 5-18 has a cell phone it could be harmful because random people call and you may be kidnapped if you give info of your self, Or if they track you. I'm 12 and I have a cell phone, So I think it should be up to the parent or legal guardian. BUT IF PEOPLE GET MAD AT WELL....AT&T BECAUSE THERE CHILD GOT KIDNAPPED THAT'S THERE FAULT!

We should ban shiprelation_s. They give off radiation that could be offensive to children.

And we should ban the sun! It gives off UV rays which can be harmfull to certain people! And it gives people sunburn! It's an outrage that it's even legal!

God created the sun to do that. :) And since Adam and Eve have sinned there is are punishment :( But the sun is natural and cell phones are hand made. I don't really believe that cell phone rays are hurting people, I just said that because I heard of it? So my Knowledge on Cell-Phone rays hurting people is NOT mastered. Please don't ban me :(

Yeah, like we're really going to ban you for not knowing physics. Hell, we have creationists on this board, who are basically the opposite of scientists.
But anyway, scientists have proven that on the 8th day God created cell phones.

Well the machine that was made by a machine that was made by a machine eventually had to be made by a human.
And plus cell phone were deisined by humans, am I right? The "Human" has to program the "Robots" to make the cell phones.

All I'm saying is that cell phones couldn't possibly give us brain cancer because God made them, and God wouldn't do that to us because he's omnibenevolent (that means He loves us all).
That's why bad things never happen in the world.
