Has anyone already bought a DSi? Because I'd like to have any opinions on how much better one is compared to the other before I go out and buy one myself.

Oh and pirated games don't work (Not just flash carts I mean the kind you buy when on holiday to somewhere like spain or turkey).

WPA2 support (only for new games though) is what clinched it for me. :D

I'll probably make the final decision tomorrow or something. I don't really want to wait until June for E3 to happen.

Guitar Hero DS needs the cart slot for the peripheral fret control. I think a few other games make use of it too, I'd read up a little to make sure you won't be missing anything you care about.George wrote:Wait, what's this about Guitar Hero? I only ever wanted GBA compatibility to play a couple of my old games. It's merely a convenience thing, as I've still got my SP.

After that, if you don't care about physical backwards compatibility, I'd go for the DSi.

DSi's has lots of specilities than DS, nearly all of them is for personalizing your hand-console.
Other than that, there are performance upgrades too, like;
-2 cameras
-bigger screen ( %17-%18 )
-SD card slot
-faster web
-built in programs ( animation- photography, exc... )
-DSi Ware
These are some I can think of.

Predictably, it's very likely they'd feature GBA games on DSiWare, within the same gimmic the WiiWare underwent. It's only a matter of time, though. I'm very inclined to get it. And now I hide in my hole. *disappears*Normally, I'd be all for the DSi, but currently, my only qualm with the new handheld is the incompatibility with GBA games.

The music function is very handy, but the screen size is the best update.
Oh, and if you do get a DSi, get the Art Styles, Aquite and Code, with your free 1000 DSi points. WarioWare: Snapped just isn't worth it. =\

I thought the region restriction was on the dsi specific stuff only, not DS games etc.Luminaflare wrote:Oh and pirated games don't work (Not just flash carts I mean the kind you buy when on holiday to somewhere like spain or turkey).

90% of DS games in turkey are pirate copies (And I know you can get pirate copies in spain).faemir wrote:I thought the region restriction was on the dsi specific stuff only, not DS games etc.Luminaflare wrote:Oh and pirated games don't work (Not just flash carts I mean the kind you buy when on holiday to somewhere like spain or turkey).

But seriously, there really aren't any others. Go with the Lite. More colors, sleeker design, cheaper, plays your GBA games. All DSi really has going for it is DSiWare and slightly larger screens. Otherwise everything about it is a total nightmare from an aesthetic point of view. It'll take at least a year for the DSiWare game library to fill up enough to make it worth sacrificing a GBA slot. And by then the price will have dropped. But if you just want something that will play DS games, stick with Lite.

A) Guitar Hero on Tour isn't THAT bad. It would've been a lot better if the DS could be held in the usual orientation, a lot better on the wrist.Zivilyn wrote:I don't see why DS's Guitar Hero even plays into these discussions. It's terrible, and you should feel bad for playing it. If anything, the fact that it requires a GBA slot is a selling point for the DSi.

B) The DS Lite looks better?! It's clunkier, has sharp edges, and a finish that will keep your grubby little paw prints as a lifetime momentum.
C) There'll be a GBA peripheral soon enough, if you need one.
D) Nintendo rarely drop their prices.

simple - i planned ahead and have bought a GBA SP for my color and gba games.George wrote:I've had a look at the similarities and differences between the two, but I can't seem to make up my mind. Remember how the Color had that IR port on the top? Well, some games actually used it, and to placate fans of those games an announcement was made saying that an IR port peripheral would be made for the GBA. Japan might have gotten it, I don't remember, but we certainly never did. And unlike a simple little IR sensor, there is really no natural place to put such a peripheral. There are too many cameras in the way. The only way you'll be playing GBA games on a DSi is select titles through DSiWare in like two years, or with an emulator on a flashcart.Ad. wrote: C) There'll be a GBA peripheral soon enough, if you need one.

You could also say that Nintendo rarely come out with new systems. As such, the two typically go hand-in-hand. Lite will see a price drop long before they stop producing them.

Pointless, unresponsive cameras, bad Internet browsers, lackluster downloadables, and pointless programs don't really add much, and isn't worth the extra money. Neither is a bigger screen or the lack of the second slot, which seems just plain pointless to me.-2 cameras
