If they want to imitate Nintendo, why not imitate the way they make stories for Mario? Always following the same thing, but with variate things in the middle?

And tilt control was one of the things that made me like SatSR. Really. I really loved to feel the pain after trying to beat a fucking record.

Mario does get those useless characters (especially in the RPGs) that appear in 1 game, and that's why I don't really like them.

Also, I HATE Shadow.

Mmm, in Mario, most of the characters are ones that were been used in other versions of the games. I don't see much of those you are talking.

Anyway, Sonic's problem is way worse.

And remember that Sonic games are released more often than Mario's, which increases more that issue.

Huh? I thought the main problem with Sonic was the fact that they always used the annoying characters, not that they just appeared in one game, and due to there being so many in the game the actually playability of the games was compromised.

That's why I like Unleashed.

I quite like Shadow. Well, apart from his 06 incarnation. Who the hell thought of that? "Hmm... Shadow was faster than Sonic in SA2:B, so lets slow him down to the speed of a rock, and give him cars and motorcycles. Kids like motorcycles, right?"

I didn't see much point in giving Shadow veichles. Guns, well, I don't know. Some people like them, others don't. I personally like the use of projectile weapons. But veichles? When he's supposed to be able to run past the 200mph mark?

I still don't know if 29403 has played SatSR. Really, you would probably love it.

Then again, who does like Sonic 06?

Another problem with Sonic, isn't a problem with Sonic.

You heard me.

Groups such as IGN and CNET seem to be horribly biased against Sonic. This shows up in reviews, and therefore misled people don't even try the games. I'm not going to go into a great rage here (Hilary Goldstein sucks at gaming), but take a look at how bad IGN's video review is. Practically all the problems that Goldstein lists are false, and he completely contradicts himself just to make the game look bad; he states that the jump button is at times inactive (untrue), and then delibretly jumps off a cliff. Over a launch ramp.

Take a look on Youtube to see how bad it really is...

and look at nnintendo powers comment on unleashed. all they talked about was how "bad" the night was, even though it was rated 7-8.

I guess I'm just used to the old Sonic Games that I used to play.
I never liked new games really in the first place anyway. SatSR, showed by a friend was alright really. Wasn't a fan of Unleashed in the first place.
I also really don't like lame Sonic 06' like plots. Oh well, not really much of a gamer anyway ;)

So you might be interested in the possibility of a Sonic the Hedgehog 4, in the vain of Megaman 9?

Highly unlikely, but still a possibility.

That would be the Four Point Scale in action. Also, I've not read Nintendo Power recently, but back in the day I recall it being poorly-written, unreliable, and never giving hyped up games a score below 8, regardless of how bad they were.

I'm rather fond of the new games; I found Unleashed very fun. I, to an extent, even found 06 fun when GTM and me had a short bash at it. Okay, the loading times were horrendous, the voice acting was crap, and most things didn't even make sense (a forcefield?!). But I still found it fun...

Look, I'm going to go straight out and ask: Is Tails gay? If he is, 'm glad. If he's not, I'm glad he follows Sonic around so much in 06 and dies frequently trying to clear low barriers >_<

As far as I know, his sexuality isn't specified in canon. And isn't he supposed to be about 10 years old? Talking about his sexuality could have... unfortunate implications. Nobody wants their mascot to be branded as a paedophile.

Of course, that doesn't stop shippers. And I must admit that his character description is always suspiciously effusive about how much he adores Sonic.

Apparently she was going to be a girl... o_O

Also, he's just a little foxlet with an idol who he follows around. Gay? Not much question. He was nothing more than 4 and a half on the AoStH cartoons.

Yeah, the original design for tails was female, but then again even Sonic's original idea was completely changed as well...

Oddly enough, as far as I'm aware there's a mission in Sonic Unleashed talking about various conspiriscies. One of these being if Tails really is a girl. I think that's more of to do with his voice actor, who is female, but it may be canon, I don't know. I'm yet to do that one yet. And shippers, forget them. Where do you think the 'furry' stuff comes from?
GTM wrote:Look, I'm going to go straight out and ask: Is Tails gay? If he is, 'm glad. If he's not, I'm glad he follows Sonic around so much in 06 and dies frequently trying to clear low barriers >_<
The dying is just stupid AI; all amigo characters die frequently, ironically more often in the Adventure stages (which are meant to be safe). As for his voice, of which we both laughed about, well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QO4Os6aues

A cutscene from Unleashed, when you first meet Tails. The only problem in 06 is his voice actor was crap at the time; they all were (apart from the brilliant Dan Green, but aside from Mephilis/Yami Yugi (they sound exactly the same)). In this, you'll see that whoever voices him has improved drastically.

As the link explains, making something Darker and Edgier means trying to make something "gritty", "serious" and "more mature" by adding cynicism, violence, darker visuals, profanity, etc. If it's done badly, which it often is, it gets the same reception as the kid who thinks wearing sunglasses at all times will instantly make him look all tough and manly. Whether a game is cutting edge or not isn't related to how dark and edgy it's trying to be.
Dude, I have three words for you:

Shadow. The. Hedgehog.

That said, I did quite enjoy the game...it was pretty much a sonic game, with motorcycles and machineguns added in.
