Fucking hosed yourself. WHEN WILL MY REFLECTION SHOW.... WHO I AM... INSIIIIIDE.

As Suki said, it's much more to do with general grooming techniques and what have you. Foundation and make up are just two of many cosmetic affectations of the modern woman. Trust me, you won't like the natural smell, taste, and appearance of a woman in day-to-day interaction. I mean, you've been cultured not to.

Artificial, as Suki said, isn't bad. Bad artificiality is bad. Being artificial in certain regards where you don't need it is bad. But being artificial at all is to be human. You aren't born with a personality and you're not born socialized. You came by these things "artificially". Which is a poor choice of words, considering it just means "manufactured by a person". It'd be shocking to imagine any part of our communicative style, personality, and behavior aren't made "by a person".

You'll drive yourself crazy trying to hate the gloss of daily living. Because everyone pretends, bolsters, and deceives to themselves and others. It's the human condition. You should get annoyed at people who do it and don't mean well; that's the difference between being social and being manipulative.

Anyhow, "beauty" is perhaps the process of making your potential into social bounty.

To me, looks do matter. Personality is probably more important, but looking good is essential. Using makeup or other "products" is almost needed in these times. The girl that hopes to attract by showing who she is without all the extras, will look bad in comparison to the girl who spends two hours every morning hoping to get that look just right.
To be there's a perfect balance in between all out must have makeup and being just as you are, and thats where everyone should be.
Everyone has their own idea of beauty, but could having beauty be considered just another way to survive, like being athletic or such?

Actually those people just look like they spent two hours in the morning applying a a fake face, and are generally too self absorbed to be worth knowing (IMO)

Looks are the second thing on my list. Many a girl have been thought about and then forgotten a few seconds later due to a horrid personality, despite the fact that they were extremely hot by most people's definitions.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. A girl does care about how she looks (inside sources on that information exist), and a grudging feeling about how bad one looks can bleed over into her personality. This happened quite a bit in my experience. I knew know a gird who is normally a very sweet person, but holds a strong grudge about the fact that she is fat by medical definition. It bleeds over quite a bit, into both her personality and the layers of makeup she wears and that disturbs me more than enough to think twice about going for any relationship with her besides a normal friendship.

And this isn't just personality that is affected by the need to look good. Makeup. It's used and over used. Well, let's be fair, some small touches aren't too bad, but overdoing it (aka 2 layer powdered makeup, volume-enhancing flavored lip gloss, eyelash thickener, brow thickener, and special highlights applied to hair) makes me wince a little bit.

All that said, my own definition of beauty depends on the context, but as a general rule,, I'd say that beauty is streamlined elegance, of the mind, body, and soul. [moment-ruiner]*Gods, since when was I a wise-guy?*[/moment-ruiner]

You totally made my day.

Make-up can make a girl prettier, sometimes it doesn't, but most of the times it does. Also I dissagree with everyone who sais that it's the inside that counts. Looks are certainly as important as the inside.

Who'd you prefer:
Fat, ugly 40 year old woman with no teeth, bald and one arm. And she smells. Like rotten fish. On the other hand she's very intelligent and the best company you can have.
Or
A 20 year old model with the nicest legs you've ever seen, gorgeous body (let your imagination work) and the best smell you've ever smelled. But she is incredibly dumb, she can't read nor write, she doesn't reply with witty answers and she cant start a conversation.

I still prefer the 20yr old model, Although a combination of the two would be perfect.
No, not THAT combination.

I would take them both, one or sex and one for intelligent conversation. But I would make the one that smelled like fish sit outside.
