If you're careful you can be at 55 at the end of the third room even if you start with 15-20 health (and still have the life pot).

If you go to the room on the top right after the press you can destroy the statues to get hearts, missles and energy.

Aww, I almost beat Ballos...
I got to the third stage and almost beat that, but I forgot to use my Life Pot. XD

It's a little late to be saying this, but yes.
I don't think you need the Clock to access Hell, but you do need it if you want to have a saved time.

Ballos actually wasn't so hard. As long as you have enough super missiles to use at the right time, most of him is pretty easy. His third form is probably the hardest, at least to do quickly.

My best time is 7.03.8 with the spur
and EDIT: 5.34.9 with the snake. (just upgraded it)

The snake is easier because of the firing through the wall option, but harder because I like to power it up as well as the missiles
The spur is easier because it requires no energy and it can all go into the missiles and its a better gun, but harder because all the rooms are full when I come to them. . .

I'm now trying to get a faster time with the Snake (I actually beat the whole game again, even though I could've just downloaded a save file). Should I bother leveling up the Snake?

Rockets are highest priority to level up. Use all the experience on the rockets for the first room.

You should be able to finish leveling up the rockets after the first stage of ballos, so only use snake in the third room.

And obviously, use nemesis in second room. :P

Those people who can pull off Min. Equips runs are crazy.

This is a 2:33.6 speedrun, and this is a 4:35.9 Min. Equips speedrun.
Edit: And here's a 4:15.8 Minimum Equips run.

I would've gotten under 5 minutes, but I screwed up while trying to get next to Ballos's eye in his 4th stage (I kept on missing the spot, and I had to get hit by the spikes 3 times, so I dropped from around 40 hp to 5).

Edit 2: For some reason, I find it to be really hard to get up to Ballos' eye in his final form. I would've gotten under 4 minutes by now, but every time I get to his final form, I get hit by the spikes, and then I always miss the place to stand next to his eye. I just can't seem to get to get next there, and then I die within the next few tries.
