This Christmas my parents said that we would upgrade to a PS3 or a Wii so they asked me which one I wanted. I have no clue to as what I want. Here is the thing though people the only games that I have are GH3, Rockband, Grand Turismo 4, and NFL 08. I think that most of these games are accessible on the Wii and that all of them are a accessible on the PS3. I guess I'm going to be happy as long as I have Rockband and GH3 so If I don't have the other two I'll be fine. So right now I'm kinda leaning towards the PS3, but the final catch is that my mom heard there was a yoga thing on the Wii so she realy wants to get that now. With all of that in mind what should I get? :/

Right now, I'd recommend a 360 over both - greater library/quality of games overall and the best online support for any gaming system.
The Wii control system is very cool, but I rarely play mine unless we have friends over.

Wii has Mario Kart, Zelda, and Brawl. That's about it I think.. but those are really fun ^^
But like atob said, 360 is better overall right now.

Ok, where to begin? Right, First off, if you honestly hate something because it has horrible graphics, then shame on you, graphics aren't everything. Second, the Wii's graphics are very good. Third, stop being such a fanboy, nobody likes it, and it just creates chaos and starts things that I don't want to break apart. Also, again, you really do need to put some effort into your posts. I've edited your posts in red. Alas, my red pen ran out, so the rest is in green, this concerns me. Please, see me after school. ~Snuggletummy

Wii might be better suited for you then.behappyy wrote:I'm not going to buy games like Gears Of War. I'm just getting Guitar Hero III, Rockband, and stuff.

Honestly, take it easy. Fanboyism is annoying, so please, tone it down. Errors are marked in red. Please see me after Lunch. ~Snuggletummy

But out of the two, I'd say PS3. At least you get the Orange Box.

Temporary hiatus for learning and shit.

Toasters FFXIII is coming to 360 as well.
guy_zap OB is far superior on PC and it's not as if it's hard to run (<3 AoC).
And now for my opinion: The PS3 is a powerful console and quite good for online/SP play but it's games library is fairly small right now and is only just expanding, oh and it has blu-ray as well. The Wii is good for playing with people in the same room as you but for online and SP play it's really bad (Really laggy online and there are very few good SP games). The 360 may not be quite as powerful as PS3 and does lack a high definition disc format but the price (cheaper than the Wii) and games library more than make up for that and come the 19th the dashboard is getting a major upgrade. Guitar Hero and Rockband are available on all consoles but don't forget that on the 360 and PS3 they have extra songs as DLC (Some for free some cost).
If you do get a PS3 go for the original 60GB version that was released at launch, it's harder to get a hold of but is far superior to the current consoles. For the 360 try and get a console that has only just come out of the factory as the newer ones get the RROD less. As for the Wii... There is just the Wii and that's it.

Unless you have a burning desire for any of the Wii exclusives, 360 is the best value/most functional for what you've mentioned.

Ok, seriously, stop being a fanboy. Tone it down a little if you would. Also, please...make some attempt to type with grammar and whatnot. Also, I've marked all of your spelling errors in this post in red. Please see me after class. ~Snuggletummy

Second: Top Wii Games. There are plenty here to satisfy the more 'mature' gamer. Highlights include: Resident Evil 4, Metroid, Okami, No More Heroes, and Zelda.

I can only think of two reasons you'd be so against the 360:behappyy wrote:Also their is no way I'm getting an Xbox.
1. RROD issues.
2. Anti-Microsoft
The first has apparently been sorted with the most recently built machines, but it still might be a worry. The console comes with the option of a 3 year warrenty though, and many hi-street retailers (GAME in the UK, for example) offer very competitive deals for 3 year faulty cover.
The second is something I'd bit the bullet for the best back catalogue of games + superior live support, but that's just me.
Currently, and even with the RROD issues, the 360 is the best bang for your buck.

Yeah, I like my xbox...good for the mom (wife in my case) too with silly arcade games. I own a wii (ask the wife) and it sees play for abotu 2 days when a new wii game comes out (sports, fit, etc) and then never again. We do get a blast out of playing silly arcade games together though, and it has the "hardcore" catalog to keep me happy when she is away.

The yoga thing is nothing but something that detects where most of your body weight is, she'd be better off taking a yoga class. Also why no xbox?behappyy wrote:Yeah I'm most likely not going to by many game at all other than GH3 and Rockband. I do want to get Grand Turismo 5 though so their is one thing I can get with the PS3 that I can't get with Wii. Also their is no way I'm getting an Xbox.
Edit: also my mom wants the wii so she can do the yoga thing. :|

Yes she would. But think about it. While with the yoga classes she would have to go some place and pay for the yoga classes, with the wii fit she would be at home, paying only 100€ for having it and doing over 15 yoga exercises.

If you have any friends that actually like having fun, get the Wii and Mario Kart or SSBB (or I suppose Mario Party, but I never liked those games that much)

Wii: Good for a laugh with a bunch of friends, yet there are tons of games for it that satisfy the mature gamer. If I were a mature gamer though I'd be getting...
Xbox 360: Most fun online and has a huge number of games available for it. I like this the most.
It's all down to personal preference really.

Second choice would be the 360, as it has a very nice set of games on it currently.
Third choice would be a new PC.

It sounds like a 360 is out of the picture, and unless you can persuade your parents that a blue ray disc player is better, then you are most likely better with a Wii.l

Actually, I'm in a similar situation; I'm a game-a-holic, and I can't decide between a PS3 and a 360 to broaden my library, baring in mind that I only really need one FPS. The PS3 is more costly, but I don't want to fork out for a subscription to online services!
