The President's Lounge
It's like if God was a fan of Survivor and cared what you thought!
It's a fun new forum game!
-The Balls of the Game-
The President's Lounge is a subforum of the NinjaRobotYeti forums that is essentially for you. It acts as both a social experiment, a general place to put whatever the frak you want, as well as a fun ongoing forum game for as long as you keep it going.
-The Hoop of the Game-
This subforum goes completely untouched by mods, admins, and other ne'er do'wells. It is all up to two moderators each week to keep it active and healthy. And who will those people be each week? They'll be voted by the members of the subforum! Long terms of presidency can mean more power from the gamemaster, but lots of short terms might not leave the players with enough time to get any real changes. Alliances are going to be formed. Genuinely great contribution to the subforum will not go unnoticed. Posting well and often is going to get you some sponsors from up on Capitol Hill, and it's going to mean extra votes. Certain rivalries and large political parties can gain the ability to vote tamper. Associations will come and go. And people will enter and leave the President's Lounge, until only four men stand. Two presidents head to head, two vice presidents, and that's when everybody who has played gets one final vote to determine who should win the final prize. What that'll be will be revealed a little deeper into the President's Lounge, but the game should float as well as it is.
-The Brass Rules-
-The first twenty members to ask for a slot here will be the first allowed into the President's Lounge.
-Each week, an election for the President and Vice President will be held. Special factors shall be held by the Gamemaster to help keep it interesting, including -campaign focuses-, debates, and bonus votes/vote tampering. Essentially, though, everybody will have one vote for President and Vice President that will be public and not for themselves.
- Form into pairs immediately. As soon as you do, you can start to focus your ideas. You need to work together and net your pairing the most votes.
-The Job of President and Vice President each comes with one unique responsibility. The President will be able to remove one player from the game each week. Got a rival? Get rid of him, but remember he might come back in the final round, and you can't be president forever. Vice President will be able to add one person to the game each week. Anybody from the forums. (No multis; find someone legit or get banned. Legit and active would help.) Strengthen your campaign, but realize that you can't win unless you're the last players in the game. Bring in somebody who the people would like, and they might vote for you again.
-Neither Pres or Vice is required to do either of these things; they can let either of their task go past them in order to gain favor with the other voters. However, they have one other important task: Administrate the subforum. They will be left in charge of any creative or administrative decisions, short of banning somebody. Their job is to keep the subforum interesting and fun for all parties involved.
-One a person is eliminated, somebody will be without a campaign partner. You are welcome to change your campaign partner at any time so long as you hand in one partnership to the ballot at the end. Moreover, not everybody needs to run for president or vice president. Why not be a campaign manager for a group? Why not form larger parties and just nominate two guys who will serve your best interests? Keep in mind that large parties put no risk on you to make the right decisions while you still have a guy up there who needs your votes. You can form alliances via sigs, you can even private message or whatever you want. Say you know a lot of guys in the lounge like imagemaking, maybe bandolier on that. But know when to draw the line.
-Remember that long term presidencies have long term benefits. Somebody who is president for four weeks in a row will have the ability to really help or hurt any player in the game!
So, that said, I will be setting this up as soon as possible. If you cannot commit, don't worry. You can stay in even without posting as long as nobody wants you eliminated. But try and do a good job and keep this subforum fun and interesting.
Clerical details:
1) On a tie of two parties, I'll roll a die.
2) Nobody will moderate the subforum for the first week. Do not spam or else expect to get thrown out by the time the week is over.
3) The forum will be read only to everybody. However, only candidates can post and participate. Feel free to drop by the President's Lounge and see what your peers are up to. Maybe you'd like to be too?!?
4) Votes at the end of the week will be done via PM but revealed publically.
And there you have it! Have fun! I hope this project works! Fingers crossed!

Question, though. Can the VP invite someone who was banned by the Pres.? I mean, I know no good VP would do that, but it's still an option. Maybe a previous banned person was a member of the now dominant party, or something. Who knows.

One small question: insomuch as we have partners: do we make this alliance public knowledge? Do we just tell you? Do you we need to have this in writing somewhere?

Good question. Yes, the VP could undermine his Prez by bringing him back in.

On Ballot Day, one submission must be made of two people by both parties consent for them to appear on the ballot. So while you can have a private alliance that I and nobody can no shit about, you also do not need to run every Ballot Day. My suggestion that you find a partner for the first week is just that; a suggestion. Without a running partner, you can't run for president. But that partner also need not be public until Ballot Day.hairscapades wrote:I'm in. So in.
