I'm a fan of the original DS, but I hear the DSi is alright. I don't even understand the point of the DSi XL. Like, the point of the DSi was to make it smaller, and the DSi XL to be a bigger version of the DSi...so what, they've rereleased the DS with a camera?

What's your preferance?

DS lite, the camera on the DSi is pretty bad (as in mobile phones surpassed it a good 8 years ago), no GBA slot and only a SD card slot to replace it. The XL is just goddamn pointless.

Incidentally Nintendo 3DS has been announced and it isn't just a rehash of the hardware it's a new handheld.

I've got a DS Lite and would not consider upgrading with the handhelds available at this time.

yeah, the 3DS will be cool if they can pull it off. I'll probably end up buying one, if not just to see how good it is. I was not aware that all of a sudden we were in the future.

Actually, yeah, isn't it weird that in like, the space of a month, we suddently have /decent/ 3D?

This is what annoys me about Nintendo. When they find something that is really worth its money or attractive to those Japanese-brains, they never let it go. I can bet that there will be 5 more DS models before 2030.

I'll take that bet and win it, The DSiXL is the last proper "DS" rehash (Bar anything like the GBA micro etc.). We've got the 3DS coming out at some point in Q4 2010 which is essentially the DS 2 not just another mild change in hardware.

Also Nintendo have only really been like this since the CEO changed over from the old one (Some time between DS and Wii release as far as i know)

I currently have DS Lite wich i really like but i'm contemplating getting a DSi XL just due to the fact that my eyes are complete and utter shit, and well. a big screen really helps in that regard.

I have a DS Lite and will not buy a DSi mainly because of the extra cost of it. I only bought my DS at the end of 2009, so I could have had a DSi. . .
Anyway, I'm happy with the few games I have. I just wish that they would come down in price. Astonishingly, Mario Kart has not come down in price at all, and still costs $90 (US $65)
