Lesbian Heroes

Two married lesbians saved 40 teenagers in the Norway massacre, whilst taking gunfire. For some reason the media has decided to remain uniformly silent on the matter, the bastards. Stories like this are the ones that really need to be told.

Though it would be depressing if American news outlets were shying from this story merely because they were lesbians, I don't think it's entirely pertinent to the story that they were. A couple saving a bunch of people from death is fantastic but centering the story around the fact that they were lesbians isn't really necessary. I mean, you don't see headlines saying, "Ginger saves orphans from drowning bus!"

There are two problems with this premise.

1) If a bus is drowning it is going to have a hard time attacking orphans.
2) No one would believe the part about the ginger anyway.

Jokes aside, I agree with capt_weasle on this. Hell, "the media" would probably get more attention if they had reported this story. Sounds more like someone did more research or these two just came out (heh) with their story, and someone picked it up first. I don't think there's some hidden agenda here. The act itself is admirable as fuck, though.

Edit: I'll admit I saw this headline on reddit and never actually read the article. I just read your link, and saw this:
when they heard shots and screams across the water. Did they run and hide? No, they're lesbians, so they jumped in their boat and sped toward the slaughter.
What the fuck!?

So the article is congratulating them for being lesbians, not for saving the kids. Surprise!

Poignant.

Also wanna point out that there were numerous rescuers that day that have been skirted by the media, and saying that these heroes weren't widely reported on because they were, first and foremost, lesbian is slightly sensational.

Do you really want lesbians saving your children?

The way I feel is that these fucking Lesbians, and, like, no offense to the gay community of Metanet, but these unused cockbags have made a fucking date out of this thing, that is to say, they could have stayed home and watched Ellen with the rest of the dykes but NO! they decided to go out and rescue some of the Hitler-youth from certain Blaze of Glory-style death, and it's like, "Do you want to do chinese tonight?" "NAW FUCK DAT BITCH WE GOING TO GO SAVE SOME CHILDREN'S LIVES"

it's so obvious who the bottom is in this example between the two dykes that I just made up but it raises an excellent point; if I had a choice between some gay rescuers and some straight rescuers, all white, I would obviously choose the straights, because, I mean, obviously not all gay people are rapists but it is not really a risk I would want to run with my children, the psych damage being way worse and harder to fix over time than a bullet wound, believe you me.

Also, they saved 40 people. That's kind of a lot.

Wait, you mean to tell me that the media places sensationalism ahead of journalism in order to sell better?

Of course it's unneccesary to add the fact they were lesbians. Of course this adds nothing to the story, but of course they will do it anyway, because it sells. Media is still a business.

This is irrelevant because my point was directed at destiny who is not the media and hopefully never is.

He sold us the sensational part of the piece and not the journalism part. As a reader, it's his job to discern the two. I was just building on Dave's point so that maybe destiny can be taught something here.
