Topics will not be getting ported over in the way you might imagine.
Make topics as you see fit, even if they exist on the old forums.
The threads, which are presently already archived on TheRealN.com, will be prepared in such a way as to make their content readable, but not anything you could reply to. They will serve as records.

I'd like to add to this by saying don't make a thread simply because it was on the old forums. Try to keep it to stuff you actually want to post in, and just so happen to be on the Forumer forums as well.

Yeah. Talk about what you want to talk about.
Don't consider a topic's existence on the old forums at all in making a new topic. We don't want repeats for the sake of having them.

Oh well. That's a bummer.

Hm. Well that's unfortunate. But it is possible to work around it.
In light of this, I hope spoilers will be fixed soon.

Shouldn't some of the really important threads be ported, such as the FAQ's and such?

Good. I like this better.

FAQs are single posts that just need to be copied and pasted (and updated). No need for any complicated automation.

And even if the FAQ's have any replies, most of the information in the replies was put under the FAQ.

No seriously, when are spoilers going to be fixed?
The only thing preventing me from porting over a big thread of mine is the lack of spoilers.

Fascinating.
Explain to me your process for how you're going to be porting your thread.

There's no need for sarcasm. I made a legitimate request for information. In
this thread, people were trying out spoilers and they were apparently working at first, but then they stopped working and (to my knowledge) haven't worked since.
And since you asked, I'm going to be switching over an ongoing group to these new forums and the first post of the thread contains all the rules of the group and information from past weeks of the group's operation. It has been suggested that the forum move should be complete by sometime in October, so I would like to make the transition ASAP, but I can't do that without knowing how spoilers will work on these forums (if they will work at all). So I'm asking for a status update.
EDIT: (in response to Tsukatu's below post) I suppose that's true - I'm not actually porting my thread, I'm restarting it here. I was just using "port" as a quick way to describe what I wanted to do.

No no, the question wasn't at all about spoilers.
I was just curious that you said you were going to be "porting over" anything, given that it's the administration who a) have the old forum data and b) have the slightest idea where the ported threads will be stored.
I didn't realize that you were using "porting over" in a way that was inconsistent with every other use of it on these forums; you actually meant that you'd copy the first post in a thread you like on the old forums and start a new thread here with that post.

People have been using the term "port over" to indicate that they'll copy-paste old thread posts into new topics here.
I'm kinda opposed to that. Some of the old topics need to die, and some people who are taking old threads and made them into topics here have said "Just moving this over." If there's nothing to say on a topic, don't carry it over.
