N v2.0 Column speedrun (Arcade)

Being a bit bored lately and also wanting to release my mind after studying I offered myself a little challenge...
I wanted to see in how much time I could complete the first column of N v2.0, I mean irl time by the way. So i just put on the chrono and let's go :p
I was surprised (also a bit disapointed) I hadn't to take any bonus gold to save myself from a time dead but anyways, it was a really nice challenge to me!
I did 28 min 56 sec on my first try, which can seem a bit long for some of you but I hadn't played for a while so yeah.
I think it's quite a nice occupation to wait the release of N v2.0... waiting to see your PB guys ;)

wow this is kinda impressive i guess!
I did it once again after completing the game but didn't count the time exactly, was around 20minutes.
i really hope they'll add a speedrun mode in a patch and fix arcade completition problems, could be just so fun to see the top 20 of this.

Column:
00
Start: 20:05
End: 20:15
Time:
10:54 (measured with timer).
Notes:
No deaths and no major errors.
Of course, it's cleanable, not sure if sub-10 is viable, but 15-20 more secs can be obtained (basically because of 9-2, although if you try to beat the drones there you are mad).
I recorded it for evidence:

I typed a shitload on info in the video description in case you want to know. Basically this was my 3rd completion try at this challenge. The first two ones were completely spontaneous, that is, I just started playing without any previous preparation. For this 3rd completion try, I spent about 20 mins on beforehand developing some sensible but fast routes for certain levels so that I wouldn't lose time on my run, this also helped to memorize the order of several levels, so that I could start without thinking. I also had a couple unfinished runs which I quitted at Ep8 and 9.
As for the tips, I give some in the description, but basically the levels where more can be shaved are, in my opinion: 9-2 (10 secs, maybe even up to 15, but thats hard and very late in the run to get fancy, you should playtest on beforehand a lot), and then 8-1 and 6-4 with about 3-5 secs left max each. The rest are waay under a second left, except for 2 or 3 levels in which I later thought on 2 secs or so innovs. I give this advice so if any of you want to compete, which would be cool, you know where to start.
The music are just some chiptunes I listed while playing.

Cool clip! its kind of funny watching the ninja live for so long -cause its like watching a ''real'' n-ninja if such a creature ever existed (in some parallel dimension or something heh)

this is one of the most ridiculous things i have ever watched... good job
this is absolutely amazing. i have no idea how your natural n-playing instinct enables you to automatically pull off one optimal route after another without any real mistakes just like that - and you even do a triple slope jump on command at just before 3mins
you should have put more effort into m&r's v2 arcade contesque two years ago, you'd have destroyed me by a lot and possibly even vankusss

Haha. I'm trying it out again in hope i can go under 15 minutes this time (I may not record because of crappy internal video cameras).
Anyone thought of being insane and trying to record/go for a-a column yet?

a-a doesn't look too bad to speedrun, like the 50's in v1.4 - a-b is far harder than a-a
by the way i did a speedrun of all of v1.4 once; check the link in my signature :D

Wow zaps thanks for your word man :D Yeah it'd have been good to keep playing the contesque a little more, but I remember I got bored and only played 2 or 3 times I believe. I think being able to play the levels individually on beforehand would have encouraged me to improve.
M4xwell, I don't know what you mean by "internal cameras", but if you want I can tell you what I do, you can get really good quality, it pretty much screwed up after the video editing even though I carefully configured the codecs rendering options.
For my video I used liteCamHD with the default options I think. Pretty easy and good quality. You have to download the lame encoder separately and copy the .dll file on the folder if you want to be able to record sound as well I believe, although for N thats not necessary unless you wanna talk or something. So you don't even need that.

As in internal camera, I mean my Mac's camera is SHIT. And all of the applications I can download (which are old because mine is outdaded) are total arse.

Oh I see, I'm not very into mac so I can't help you out there, but I'd say there should be pretty much the same alternatives as in Windows, not the same software I mean, but it should be just as viable, maybe you just need to find the right software. But hey if you just want to record N, any shitty screen recorder will be enough, wont it.
