NOTE: I've decided to hide the author's names during the voting period to remove bias. Do not worry that no one will ever realise your poetry genius, as once the competition is over, I'll be creating a file with every poem arranged by author.
Now get voting!

1)
Hey! Look at Philip.
why is he wearing no clothes?
He must've been drunk.

---

2)
A chrysanthemum
Granted everlasting bliss
Ablaze by the moon

---

3)
An endless ocean.
"How long have I been drifting?"
as I gently float.

---

4)
Listen for thunder,
That old tree sparked by lightning,
Burnt an effigy.

---

5)
Unrequited love
Is the worst experience
For the heart. . .

---

6)
"Where did my face go?"
she sobs. I thank the massed hair-
cascading, jet black.

---

7)
The eyes of a child,
Innocence, uncorrupt, pure.
Harsh tears stream. Neglect.

Incidentally, I voted for 2 and 4, since I only truly consider it a haiku if it relates to nature.

I voted for 1.
3 was good too, but I didn't realise we could vote for two entries.

Thanks slappy :)

hmm.. In hindsight It should have been an odd number of votes per person... ah well. Just so everyone is clear, If this ends in a draw, then both poems will get the points for 1st place.

Points will be issued as follows:
position- points
1st 10 points
2nd 9 points
3rd 8 points
4th 7 points
5th 6 points
6th 5 points
7th 4 points
8th 3 points
9th 2 points
10th 1 points

It occurs to me that the final line of number four might just be a confusion on the authors part. Regardless, I prefer "burnt an effigy" to "burnt in effigy".

7 poems, 7 contestants, so there will be no 8th, 9th and 10th. :/

The person in 1st place will always get 10 points, in 2nd 9 points, ect, ect. No matter how many people enter, the scores stay the same. For example, If 13 people enter for week 2 (which seems very unlikely....) then the person who comes in 11th will get 0 points, as would the contestants who come 12th and 13th.

so yeah... I hope that's clear.
