Howdoodle, folkaroo.

I'm interested in starting a book club. Each month, we would read a book and at the end of the month, we could have a forum discussion on it. (It might even leak into the IRC!) Basically, I'm posting this as a query to see who is interested as well as for suggestions for the first month's book!

Psh, lame. Let's start with War and Peace, or throw in some Crime and Punishment. Seriously, though, I would be interested, but I have enough to deal with for my own literature class. I may consider doing this during summer however, if it is still going. So tag me under "eventually maybe."

Okay, since this is our first go, I've decided to give everybody a month and a half. The book we will be reading is Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Any complaints can feel free to not read the book. Read the book and prepare for discussion on July 1st. (Or just post in here when you are done, 'cause if everyone's finished...)

Either way, may I make a suggestion about the next book to read?
If so, Anthem, by Ayn Rand would be a short, quick read for everyone, plus it's interesting and is written incredibly well.

I can't speak for your free time, but I picked up the book at a library today. Almost every library in the county has a copy or two in stock here.

I think I can't join you, mostly because of lack of free time, and difficulties of finding a book you've chosen. How about choosing books that are available on Project Gutenberg?

While that's a good idea in theory, it excludes the majority of contemporary literature. I think the problem there is obvious.

Besides, reading a novel on a computer screen is awful.
