Uzi has designed a homepage he would like to entitle "A Class of Metanet".

I've got the PSD if anyone needs it. All text is up for change or removal. Thoughts?

I think it'd be better if you used MTI as the map. It's a bit more... iconic? Can something about N be iconic? If so, MTI is it, I suppose.

Ooh, now I can't choose between the two designs! I voted total rechange though, and I agree about MTI, though it wouldn't be a huge disappointment if it wasn't, really.

Hey UZ, the name of the font you used in that skin is "a night with fairies and fantasy-puffy-animals" in the title (ninjarbotyeti) or what?

Other than that, I found UZ's design really cool, but MTI or some cool looking shit at the background would be good, as Pheidi mentioned.

Well, I implied that it would look better if you changed the font to a generic and elegant font like you used in the normal text, above.

It still looks great though, gets my vote.

Ah, I see your sarcasm now. *facepalm*
I did try to do the title using the same font as the ordinary text, but it made the page look a bit bland. So I decided to spice it up a bit.
(You guys are never satisfied, are you?)

EDIT: Also, in answer to flagmyidol's question, the reason that we shouldn't keep the current background (and indeed, the current homepage at all) is because it frightens away small children who come to our site. We want the homepage to be as attractive, inviting and useful as possible to people who are visiting the Metanet Community for the first time.

Why is there a problem with redesigning? We have people - other than myself as well - offering to do the design "gratis". Plus we've already got two designs, both of which are awesome.
Can't we just redesign?

We were all small children once. And hopefully, after exposure to this wonderful community, all those kids will become... well, properly functioning humans, really.

I think sidke's sig is much more intimidating to small kids than any homepage design that's been proposed. :3

As long as we keep the make-out picture, I don't care what happens. I just don't want the site to be converted into some impersonal and trite looking webpage like the mock-up that we see in this thread. The image that's there now is integral to the character of this community. It's humorous, it's referential, it's tongue-in-cheek (heh), and to destroy it would be to willingly kill our community.

You don't want to willingly kill our community, do you?

How would it willingly kill the community? It's an image based of a joke that is years old now. Aju left ages ago, Blizzy rarely visits. Most of the community from that time aren't here anymore, albeit rarely active.

Plus removing it would make the homepage actually SFW. >_>

Exactly. And, even if it was an integral part of the community, most new people wouldn't get the joke until they got to know us. This community seems to be very inwardly focused.

Several people have been taking shots at drawing logos for ninjarobotyeti; that is, drawing a ninjarobotyeti.

that's the point...new members are not supposed to know what it is. I'd prefer the current page (not Techno's or Universezero's) with updated links and vague references to events of the past, like Aju's sister, than something that's completely new.

I support this statement. This community thrives on out-dated jokes, such as "I'm not your buddy, pal!" or "Make a generalization, next level, make a generalization, next level"
