Another operating system already?
Maybe it's just me, but that seemed a bit quick.

Back in the day, it was: Windows 95 (1995). NT4 (1996). 98 (1998). 2000 (1999). Millenium (2000). XP (2001). So, no, I'm not surprised at the date.

With Windows Vista, there is no "too short".

(Can you guess I don't like Vista?)

Just as long as they don't screw up Windows 7. I've gotten over the wastefulness of Vista. Now it's just the little things that bug me. I mean seriously, they STILL haven't fixed the glitch where your custom cursor doesn't load automatically? It's not like it's hard to fix! They got it right in every other version they did before!

Also, it would be nice if stuff ran as administrator when you're... you know... the administrator. SUDO make me a sandwich!

The whole point of UAC/Sudo is that things don't run with administrator privileges. :P

Win 7 is going to have various levels of UAC protection, ranging from none to Vista style, one of the levels that actions by users running as admin are no longer questioned (at least the current beta (or is it an alpha... something) seems to be that way)

Sure, but it still keeps that red icon in the system tray and barks at you every time you start or unlock your computer.

Yeah, I know. I have that off. I'm not talking about that. UAC warns you when you run anything as Admin, but it doesn't make things run as Admin by default, which is really annoying.

The worst thing is that Vista annoys you lots of other times, but it DOESN'T tell you when a program fails to save or modify information due to it not running as Admin. It took me a while to figure out why WoW wasn't saving any of my settings.

What's especially annoying is that when I want to install an extension for Game Maker (which you do inside of Game Maker), you must be running as Admin. To compile and run a program you have made, you must NOT be in Admin otherwise it will do nothing visible, dissapear from the task bar, and stay there in processes wasting CPU power until you force it to close (which happens to be the same thing that happens when you attempt to run a GM EXE that was compiled in GM 6 or earlier on Vista.)
Of course I barely use GM anymore and you only have to install it once, then quit out, then run again out of Admin, but it's still annoying. I'm pretty sure, it crashes because GM itself can run as Admin, but the program you make cannot and there's no way to make it without actually saving it as an exe (not just compiling it to a temporary directory to test the game). Since everything always defaults to NOT running as Admin and there's no way to change it that I know of, all the programs you make will not run as admin when you test them. This probably means it's not impossible to save files to a temporary directory, but I haven't tried it yet.

OK, so ONE PROGRAM I have causes problems. So what? Well it's not that bad, but I didn't have this problem on XP, because things actually run as administrator on XP when you're on an administrator login.

I like Vista. I've never had any of those security pop-ups. Sheesh, what do you guys do on your computers?

I'm looking forward to Windows 7. Just hoping it turns out well.

I've never really liked Vista, but also I've never really used it.

Windows 7 looks OK, sorta. Nice move to make the taskbar windows thinner, but it also means it'll be taller. Hmm.

Anyway, when I theoretically get my next computer I'll probably get one with W7, because that'll be easier and I'm not planning on getting another computer for a year or two.

Aww I liked the codename Blackcomb more.

But anyways, Windows 7 doesn't look that bad, and it might just bring Windows back into the contest between PC's and Macs. Probably not though. We'll just have to wait and see how well Microsoft can utilize their new OS.

What I really liked in this alpha was its fastness in booting. To me, that's one of the key things windows has to improve in Vista.

I'm not sure how that new form of entering in 7 with the Windows Live Messenger will improve something... I mean... windows live messenger isn't that light, therefore making windows slower... (I use pidgin instead)

The new taskbar isn't bad, but the idea of stealing more space to the desktop... isn't that good for me.

In general? Because I can see right through that comment. Pun not intended.

I bet he didn't even look at the things that were going into Windows 7.

Well, I try to make my statements as dogmatic as possible

the reason is that they completely screwed up vista in my mind, and i have had many problems with windows, Like the BSOD for some unknown reason, unable to save a recovered file of word, ETC.

I would also like to point out that I have put an ellipsis (...) in my statement, "Windows sucks.Period (.)."

Hum.

Ooooh, an ellipsis. I'm so intimidated and amazed at your grammatical skills. Yeah, that really isn't going to help your case, and I would try to state more than just a word file loss, since anybody can do another, but I am in no mood to debate. Anyway, on my sheer boredom, I found this article on the improvements on Windows 7. Needless to say, I might look forward to it, but I wouldn't place all my bets at one time. I usually wait a couple of months before the crowd swarms the hype to verify myself if it's actually good (enjoying all the vicious rants and annoying praises in between). I'm just going to ride out the storm.

I mean, it's like, modern art or something. I could title it "Western Culture".

Nice. I was just going to make a obvious joke linking 'period' to his current title.

Please don't be flamebait.

I think it's pretty obvious that they just keep releasing versions this frequently to make money out of it, rather than doing the sensible thing and perfecting the previous versions before moving on to the next. :/

Supposed June 3rd estimated launch date?

Hope it is round about that, I'm getting a laptop in July...
