Pandora or Last.fm?

I've been switching back and forth, obviously they both have some ups and some downs. Right now I'm leaning towards Pandora, mostly because I've listened to it for longer and my stations are highly customized. That's one thing I like better about Pandora, you can add variety to already existing stations. But there is no skip limit on Last.fm, and there are less ads.
Suggestions? Opinions? Discuss which one you use and why you use it.
Edit: Something else I like about Last.fm are their tag stations.
Edit:Edit: Groovshark added to poll via Techo's recommendation.

I just tried it out, it seems extremely promising. I was always annoyed by only being able to listen to music /similar/ to the ones I added to Pandora. It's great for finding new music, but sometimes I'm in the mood for a specific song. Thanks!

I used Pandora when I didn't use iTunes, but I switched to Last.fm when I got my iPod. I've only had my account there for two weeks, but it's much better.

I used Pandora until very recently, and then switched to last.fm. I like the latter much more so far.

I just wanna say thanks to Techno, I haven't used anything but Groovshark since you suggested it. I love how you can edit playlists, and share music with your friends. Thanks again <3

Can you use we7.com in the US? It's another browser based one, with ads though.

I'm going to try using Last.fm a lot more, but only because nobody has made a CLI client for Pandora.

Pandora. Every time I try Last.fm, the similar songs it comes up with just don't seem to be quite right. Now Pandora doesn't get it perfect, but it does get pretty damn close.
My roommate has been using Slacker for the last couple months and seems to like it quite a bit, mainly because their iPod app caches songs, so he can be driving around town while listening to something that gives the impression of a streaming station with his Touch.

Last.fm can do all that Grooveshark can in that regard.

Huh. It's the opposite for me; last.fm introduced me to, among others, Dream Theater and Symphony X (both of which I am now fans of and had never heard of beforehand), while Pandora thought I would like Led Zeppelin and Slipknot. *shudder*

This was such a weird post to me until I remembered what an... interesting person you are when it comes to music. Lest I be labelled a hater, I've assembled a best-of quotes, maxson music edition:
"I can't even listen to music for an hour at a time. Half an hour is usually my limit"
"Holy damn what is the opposite of eclectic?" - Upon taking eclectic test for last.fm
"Rush - Moving Pictures; System of a Down - Toxicity; Rush - Permanent Waves; Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast" -Favourite albums
Because I know this post could be seen as sort of a downer, I'm including an image of Philosophical Raptor photoshopped onto Jesus' head.

And Slipknot have some amazing songs.
Vermillion, Vermillion Pt. 2, Circle, Duality, Snuff...they have a huge amount of songs that are accessible to the slightly-off-mainstream. :/

I'm not commenting on the quality of the bands; I'm saying they don't fit my tastes at all, which is why I shuddered not at the bands, but at Pandora's system. Chill out, people :/

I am steadily improving on those first two, and in regards to the last one, I don't need to defend my musical tastes.
