Is there a difference between in-ear headphones and earbuds?

Earphones. In-ear I guess. Ipod ones. I only wear overhead ones on my computer.

Away from computer = iPod headphones
When on computer = Overear headphones (Sony MDR-V something, acutally model number is kinda washed out)

Sony MDRs are good. I'm thinking of buying a Sony MDR-V700.
Also, the difference between in-ear and earbuds is that in-ear headphones go into your ear, while earbuds, like the apple ones, stop almost in.
(talking about apple ones, mine only last me like, 3-5 months. ;_; )
My Headphones:

Wrap-around on-ears. They're the most comfortable.

Over-ear is always my first preference, though I use little earphones a lot of the time because they're portable and I can't be bothered taking larger things to school.

I use over ear headphones. That way I don't have to deal with other noises like asshole roommates and such. And they're really comfortable. After a long enough time it feels like I'm not even wearing them.

I've got one-a-them Logitech dealies that wrap around behind your neck. I love that thing.

I use supra-aural apparently. Basically, over-ear to the rest of us. Sennheiser PX100's, quite possibly the best headphones ever to have been invented. The sound quality is just oh so good, and they are portable and really robust. I think I must have spent the entirety of my last year of sixth form with them either on or around my neck, despite this causing me to have to avoid my headteacher constantly. Seriously, I doubt I could hold these headphones in a higher regard.
If all that wasn't enough, even Myrrhman likes them (I think):

I use these jazzy little things:

I used to use Skullcandy full metal jackets, but they broke three times, and after the third, I decided it was time for a change. So I got these Sony ones, which were down from NZ$150 to NZ$90, which was a pretty good deal. They're about the same quality as the Skullcandies, but they're a lot more comfortable too.
I would use over the ear, but they're a real pain to carry around, seeing as the place I most use my iPod is on the school bus.

No idea what the difference between an earbud and an in-ear headphone is. Voted in-ear. They're the standard iPod headphones.
Edit: Post 777! It's my lucky day!

I hate ipods and everyone who uses them - just putting that out there. White plastic doesn't make you cool, it makes you a douchebag.
I use a great over-ear headset on my computer (where I listen to most of my music)
Actually, right here it is
Great sound quality and a quality microphone. I actually won it from the Live search club (now ran by Bing) using a macro program that automatically plays the games and earns points for you.

It is honestly one of my favorite posessions.
edit:
Oh and when I use my microphone (mostly for playing TF2) I have to set it to loop the microphone input through the headphones. Otherwise I can't hear myself talking and have no idea how I sound - I sort of talk like a deaf person does.

In-ear headphones when using iPod, over-ear for laptop usage.

In-ear headphones actually go far deeper in than regular iPod headphones do.
This as opposed to
this.

They're good portable music players.

"Hey everyone, look at me. I'm so cool because I go against the mainstream. I'm going to use dumb generalizations to make myself sound like a jerk."
Anyway, I use
Skullcandy in-ear headphones because they're relatively cheap, do a good job for the price, and allow me to block out any other noise distraction around me. The only downside is having a tendency to yell when I'm talking to people and listening to music at the same time because it's hard to gauge how loud I am speaking.

Over-ear, I feel like the quality might be better, I don't know though.

Interesting. Although I would still hesitate to spend big bucks on headphones. I'm not sure if it's me being rough on headphones, or simply because I've been buying shitty headphones, but the ones I've had always broke through general wear and tear. If I was sure that a good pair of headphones would survive many years of use then I'd be more inclined to invest. When I actually have money that is.

Next time you go to the store, buy these and compare them to your $100+ headphones. You won't be able to hear the difference.

Well, let's see. Just
this year 5 of the headphones I used had a problem, left headphone wasn't working, not giving sound at all, incredibly bad sound quality and so on. Although each of them were nice headphones, Sony, Apple, and 3 more different (but good) companies' headphones.
So based on my experience I can say that big bucks are worth on headphones, eventhough know what you're buying. Eh.
I use
this now, pretty cool. It has a on-cord-volume-adjuster, I can adjust the volume without using PC/iPod.
And yes, it's possible to buy a headphone with less than 15$, but you should now what you should buy.

In-ear headphones. You don't hear anything from the real world!
I've had three in-ear headphones: Some Pioneer ones, the ones who came with my Creative Zen Mozaic and the ones who came with my Sony-Ericsson W880i cellphone.
I'm currently using the Sony-Ericsson, because I've yet to take the Mozaic's headphones to repair (the mozaic's are the best I have).
My father owns a good on-ear Sennheiser headphones.
