Sacred Cows Definition: Something you love and have a strong passion for that irritates you enough when someone says they dislike it to never speak to that person again.

For instance, Futurama is extremely important to me. Futurama has something for everyone; raw emotion, beautiful music, and FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY! So, when somebody tells me that Futurama is just a bad knock-off of The Simpsons, I become extremely irritated and start to wonder if they did anything other than count the fingers on Fry's hands before writing it off.

What about you guys? Do you have some piece of Pop Culture that is entirely sacred to you?

But it is just a knock-off of The Simpsons. I have watched a few episodes, and they are mostly dumb, crude and badly drawn. Badly drawn! It's a cartoon! It should be drawn well, at least.

Mine is the Beatles, I guess. I just don't understand how anyone could fail to like them.

flagmyidol, this topic is supposed to be a place where we can share these things without being cocks. You have a shitty fucking attitude.

Furthermore, the show featured Rough Draft Studios doing some of the best 3D animation EVER in a regular broadcast series. With 30-000 frames in an average episode, not to mention increased frames per second on the aforementioned 3D shots, it's is one of the most visually appealing not to mention technically superior television shows.

The writing staff continuously came up with amazing ideas right up to it's wrongful cancellation, which only happened because of poor scheduling. And while the movies have been mediocre to good, the fact that they continue to release watchable product long after the show started is still better than The Simpsons.

EDIT: Also, Dumb?

Do I need to go into it's multiple Emmy, Annie, and WGA awards, or their even more numerous nominations? This is a show that has a reputation for heavy math and physics jokes. If you want me to get into the writing staff, you're going to be shocked to find out how many of them have University Degrees in things ranging from Literature to Maths. Throw that together with a celebrated voice cast that includes Frank Welker, Billy West and Maurice LaMarche, all celebrated figures, and I'm having trouble seeing what you're talking about.

The only continuous thread between Futurama and The Simpsons is a few writers who moved on from The Simpsons when it got stale, and Matt Groening's creation of both shows, although everybody knows his involvment after the creation stages was tertiary at best.

Piss off.

You don't mess with the Mario universe.

How can you NOT like this game series? And even the spin-offs are tolerable because when other franchise does this it stinks of cow pies.

I just said Children of Men to provoke a reaction. My actual sacred cows would have to be In the Aeroplane over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel and The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place by Explosions in the Sky.

The Doom series, which, by that, I mean, the game. I've played it since I was 5 years old, and It's still THE greatest FPS I've ever played. It may be dated, but the game STILL has plenty of mods still being produced for it, from turning it into Guitar Hero, to changing the game to play like Counter-Strike. It's like every game today, only without the bugs, and more customizability. Another thing would be Unreal Tournament, as, it is the same as with Doom. Amazing gameplay, MANY mods, and they are still pumping them out. Sure, these are only games, but, that's all I do.

Frank Zappa. Even if you criticize him well I'm liable to fly into a rage and insult everything you love, entirely out of spite.

Also, Dan O'Bannon and the Big Lebowski.

Seriously, these shows never failed to crack me up as a kid. I think they've been making some new ones recently which I haven't seen, but I can say safely that the old ones were some of the funniest shows I've ever watched. It doesn't matter what anyone says about how dumb they were or whatever, I loved 'em.

Achewood. Although I can let some criticism go, like most webcomics it's not particularly consistent. But if you flat out said you disliked it I would just dismiss your sense of humour as shitty.

Hmm. I wouldn't stop talking to anyone over anything, and I've learnt that (most of the time) I shouldn't force my opinions on people.

Still, there are some things I hold reasonably close to my heart. Religion, anorexia, emo-ness, the concept of love and hate... yeah. My 'morals', I suppose.

It's strange that this thread seems to split in half for me between things that I really like (Doom, Achewood, Scrubs) and things I really dislike (Frank Zappa, Ctrl + Alt + Del).

Anyway, I thought of another: Baseball. Whenever I tell someone that I enjoy baseball more than football, basketball, etc, they always say "But it's boring". I just don't get that.

Same with me.

Don't ever say bad things about my gadgets, or worse, touch them without authorization, as that's the only thing that would get me really, really pissed off. My beloved gadgets are: Wii and its acessories (Wiimote, Nunchuk, Classic Controller, the base of the console and most of the games), my Asus Eee PC 701, my old Creative ZEN V, who was one of the best friends, 1-2 years ago, my new Creative Zen Mozaic, which is awesome, my GTR2 disc and, even if it was already included in the Wii acessories part, the Excite Truck.

And, lastly, my hair and personality, although the last is kind of off-topic, as it's not really a thing.

Queen. I hate it when I'm talking to someone about our favorite bands and I bring Queen up, and they start laughing, just because Freddy was gay. And when they don't laugh and just question me, that pisses me off, but not as much as the former. The only person I know who just didn't like their music was my dad, anyway.
