The real details are still rather shrouded with mystery, but this should be a clue.
Marvel has been keeping a very tight lid on the script for the sequel, being written by Justin Theroux, but it is known that Rourke would play a tattooed Russian heavy named Ivan who becomes Whiplash, a man with deadly, technologically enhanced coils.
Rockwell would play Justin Hammer, a multibillionaire businessman and a rival of industrialist Anthony Stark, AKA Iron Man, being played by a returning Robert Downey Jr.
Rourke and Rockwell would be joining a cast that also includes the returning Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle, who is replacing Terrence Howard, making for one eclectically cast summer blockbuster.
Rockwell will als obe playing an enemy, not known yet.

perhaps you'd like to explain to us, Techno, how exactly iron man rumors are cooler than batman rumors?
Gwyneth Paltrow is hot.

Last time I checked, there's the Batman movie coming out already.

Jim Carrey is the only Riddler in my mind ;_;
As for Iron Man 2, I hope they do something like The Dark Knight, where they didn't call it Batman Begins 2, or Batman Begins Again, or something stupid like that. I want something cool, or something ironic. If they do decide to do something stupid I'd hope they call it, "The Sequel to Iron Man".

Johnny Depp would be a great The Riddler, but i heard that its Eddie Murphy with Shia LaBeouf as Robin *commits suicide*

That's obviously false.

*SPOILERS ONCE YOU GET TO THE BATMAN SECTION*
Okay, I'll put my take in on both:
Don Cheadle doesn't have the goddamn cajones to run a film that doesn't have the name "Hotel" in it. So, if they're changing the name, "Hotel GIANT METAL MAN" is as good as any.
Secondly, replacing anyone with Don Cheadle is absolute bullshit. I'm not going to see this movie, because when I walked out of the last movie, I said, "Man, I can't wait to see War Machine. I'm just glad they didn't cast someone stupid, like Don Cheadle."
And I heard they were going to do some sort of non-racist Mandarin, which would be impressive.
But back to the Batman Buzz,
Since Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart both signed two film deals, expect to see them back in the third one, right? Either Chris Nolan threw money at them to throw fanboys off the track of the third movie, or we're going to see flashbacks or they aren't dead.
Aaron Eckhart didn't necessarily die in The Dark Knight, but the Buzz on the internet sways depending on where you go. What I find particularly interesting is Gyllenhaal; since they couldn't get Katie Holmes back, they could have just made a new beau for Batman, but instead, they recast the same character. This implies that Chris Nolan had some grander scheme for the character, at least to me, and since a giant explosion probably didn't leave much of a corpse, I think we might just see the Dawester back with a vengeance in TDK2.

You hate Don Cheadle, we get it. Lots of people do, he's kind of annoying and the idea of him being in an action movie is just stupid. However, who cares? This movie gets slightly worse by replacing Terrence Howard with Don Cheadle, but it also adds Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke, which is a net gain IMO.
Only thing I'm upset with is this one will have nothing to do with the Dude. :/

Ooooooh. Didn't know about Rourkewell situation. That's pretty sweet. But I'm a little sick of them replacing actors wantonly in superhero movies. They really ought to of replaced Hugh Jackman in X-men a long time ago.
