Good stuff. Malmsteen's genre is very unique and entertaining. You should check out Paul Gilbert, he's a pretty good shredder as well.

I've always dug thrash metal, (well, since my first exposure), but I'm experiencing a bit of a rennaisance on the German front (Sodom, Kreator, destruction) at the moment. Germans do thrash better, undeniable fact. Make that sausages and thrash.

An artist can take inspiration from all facades of human life, from all corners of the globe, it doesn't matter where from, it matters how you take hold of it, how you twist it into alternate forms and... I can't be poetic anymore. You know you've got to like the music you make, otherwise it's going to sound as uninspired as you are about it.Weisslenny0 wrote:Really? I know, I know. But you'd think that music you're writing would at least vaguely resemble a style that you like - though if you like it anyway I guess style doesn't really matter.Borealis wrote:An artist can take inspiration from all facades of human life, from all corners of the globe, it doesn't matter where from, it matters how you take hold of it, how you twist it into alternate forms and... Paraphrasing Steve Winwood, "Do What you Like". Basic principal number one of experimental music, just mess about with things, improvise. As I've said before, play a saxophone solo over radio static and a didgeridoo, as long as it sounds good to your ears it's music. It may be completely unsaleable, but that's an afterthought really, although when like me you've bought $1xxxx of musical equipment you need to pay it off somehow, hehe.Weisslenny0 wrote: though if you like it anyway I guess style doesn't really matter.
As I've said before though, I listen to just as much ambient music as I do anything else. On a compositional note, however, I find listening to completely perpendicular music to what you are composing can help you find melodies and chord sequences that you'd never have thought of if you were stuck in one genre. For me it's particularly jazz or jazz-influenced music because of all it's little complexities, which I love.
Do what you like. Lose your head.

"I Love Death" by Lodger. Can't put up mp3, but you can watch the music video, which is a flash animation by the artist.

I remember "Met" be Equilibrium. That song had the strangest build-up thing that built up and broke into like, the wrong tempo. Too slow. Really weird.

Ooh, favorite? That's tricky.
About a third of my iTunes collection is my favorite. But if I had to narrow it down to one I think the closest would be "Constellations" by Jack Johnson.
Oh man, but then there's the instrumental songs... I don't even know.

Soon as in later. Probably post-December. However, aperture and I are in contact, so rest assured we are at least thinking about it.

Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower
The first few strums of acoustic and then the electric guitar kicking in is just incredible. Not to mention that the lyrics aren't bad, haha.

Right now, it's hard to decide, with the realease of Coldplay's Prospekt's March EP.
But I'd have to go with Glass of Water from the EP.
My favourite songs change constantly though.

My favourite music is from games.
Right now, listen to almost any song from Persona 3 FES, and you are listening to one of my favourite songs.
