Oh my god yes. Every time I hear that Green Day song, "Let It Die" or something, I think that exactly.SlappyMcGee wrote:The loud-quiet-loud style of Pop was invented by the Pixies, the most influential alternative band, and ripped off by everybody since.

It's the first track of an album, so it's really just setting the pace for the rest of the LP. But I'm glad you liked it a bit, anyways.Lenny wrote:I'm going to try something different here. Trying to take Skyline's suggestions on board (and Pawz' explanation), I will describe what I feel when I hear these.
I'm a Pilot - The heavy beat and slow 3/4 emphasis instantly grabs me more than the previous quiet 4/4. Vocals come in, and suit 'perfectly' (I dislike use of the word, but they certainly fit very well). It pretty much continues this way though; no big swelling highs, or sudden dynamic lows. I liked the addition of strings later in the piece because it made me feel more "at home", but that was about it. I'd say that I'd listen to this if I got home and just wanted to relax, but in reality I probably wouldn't, and I'd just stick to my normal music, because to me it's more... me. Back to the song though; I liked how the drums were never overpowering any of the other instruments, like in so many other things these days. The final build up near the end was good, but fairly expected, and... eh. I lost interesting throughout the piece because it was all pretty much the same - that same heavy first beat, the same kind of voice, no different instrumentation... but it was nice to listen to.
http://greenbrown.bandcamp.comPeople write to me and say, "I’m giving up, you’re not talking to me." I just write them a simple message like, "Never give up," you know? And it changes their life

If you like Eluvium, you might well like Ancient Tundra. Ancient Tundra is heavily nature-inspired, ambient, and quite pensive. They're one of my favourite bands.
Also Tenhi. Tenhi is nature-inspired too, but is more of a folk sort of thing. And I don't know if I dare mention Burzum's latter two albums, but I think they're great, too.
