Um.

Yeah, I love the Rohan music, but nothing in LOTR beats the beacon scene music imo.
Oh, right! My God, I'm going to watch those movies again today! My life has a purpose once more!

Make sure you watch the extended editions. I did recently and they are way more awesome than the theatrical cuts. The Guard at the Black Gate? AWESOME!

The Kingdom Hearts 2 soundtrack is absoloutely beautiful. Still listen to it all the time.
Aside from that, I quite like the World Ends With You soundtrack as well.

100%

I also loved the soundtrack of StarCraft 1. Man, i wish recent games would have music as cool as the old ones used to have! I hate how you can't remember almost any (PC) game past 2002 by it's music.

<~blue_tetris> First off, making a game and calling it the sequel to Tetris is like making "Butter 2: Revenge of Butter".

There's a great album called "Echoes of War" by the Eminence Symphony Orchestra where they cover the music from the three main Blizzard franchises, which you should check out if only for the terran shuffle.

The Wall-E and Oceans Twelve's soundtracks are excellent. Wall-E for it's futuristic beeps and boops, O12 for it's smooth jazz/ambient rock compositions.

I would say that Halo 2 probably grabs my vote, although Halo 3 does have some nice tracks too.

Midtown Madness 3 for the original Xbox had some decent background tracks for driving around in, although I doubt anybody else will have played it before. It's too bad that it isn't compatible on the 360. :(

On a completely different topic, Midtown Madness 3 was also the game that led to me getting Xbox Live. <3

My favorite video game soundtrack would probably be Halo 3's soundtrack.

As far as movie soundtracks go, I'm surprised no one's mentioned Pulp Fiction. That was an amazing soundtrack. I also love the soundtrack to Hot Fuzz.

Kill Bill soundtracks ftw. Those movies had some fucking awesome songs. And, though annoying, I am hooked on the Sonic The Hedgehog soundtracks all the time.
