Message on behalf of Arachnid

arachnid: Unfortunately, I don't have a great deal of time to fix it [NUMA] right now. The long-term solution would be to move thumbnail generation onto App Engine, to eliminate the dependency on my other server.
I'm simply not going to have time to do anything other than basic maintenance - and maybe not even that - on NUMA in the forseeable future. You don't need an admin, you need a developer... I welcome external contributions
Let me know or contact arachnid directly if anyone who is skilled at python programming would be willing to help arachnid out on maintaining the site. Shoot him an email or contact him on irc.mware.ca (/msg arachnid or #Sporks) or irc.freenode.net (/msg nickjohnson or #appengine). Thanks!

I actually know some people who are very skilled in programming. I'll get back to you.

sidke has pretty much told Arachnid he would accept full responsibility of the site, and it looked like it was going to happen. Then Arachnid wouldn't give it to him the last second and fell out of communication. There are plenty of people ready to take this site from him, just lately he doesn't seem to want to give it up.

Any word Apakenua?

i talked to arachnid because i was unsure what the exact reason was A stupid conversation

Also, he's actually a pretty cool guy, not like the community is portraying him

<arachnid> Heh. When there's two of you in the room, you're paradox. Get it? pair-a-dox?

well isn't that nice? he is unwilling to relinquish control of the site AND he is unwilling to fix it.

What good would it be if he gave it up?

Then someone else would have to pay for a dying site, he has said what needs to be done, but no one has said they can do it... maybe he will give the site to the person that says they can fix it, we don't want people just having a whole archive of maps in their possession & free to do whatever they want with it

If you want to talk to him just go to one of the places Vyacheslav mentioned...

& ask him about control of the site... i would ask him but he's asleep now & i may not remember to ask him later...

mmmmmm

What's the situation with the uh the other archive whatever its name is? From what I've seen, it seems to work fine but no-one's using it. I'm pretty sure we need to officially and completely jump ship and make sure all other NUMA users are informed, because Arachnid is in no position--and I still do appreciate where he's coming from--to keep maintaining it, and no-one else wants to deal with what is apparently a horrible codebase.

The thing is, NUMA has all the maps & was incorporated into NReality, i guess UnReality could just change the site from nmaps.net to that narc.xen.prgmr.com since they both run their URLs of maps by numbers, but still, NUMA looks better than NARC, i don't like how NARC is all white in the background

Eh just to get one thing clear, does the one who is programming the site also paying for it or what? And what does it have to be programmed with Python or can't it just be with css/html/php? I am asking because of that I know in the next 2-3 years i will be working with those codes!
