Must not have gotten that many submissions, huh? Still, these are fairly good.

Isn't it quite important for us to see what the maps are?

Maybe I guess, I already eliminated people on map selection and length of reviews. I would say these guys have reasonable taste. The first reviewer however seems to review my newest map each time he applies.lord_day wrote:Isn't it quite important for us to see what the maps are?

Ah! The map is empty! The review will be about how it's fun to move about a barren landscape. Wait, wait ... gauss? drones? In the plural? And several bounceblocks? ... I thought it was empty. :/Emptiness; this map has it. Though little know how to use to their advantage, seven_two has created a stunning display of intelligence and difficulty. Watch out, the gauss could strike at any given moment. And don't forget, those drones aren't too keen to let you run either! And, the bounceblocks also make for a ton of fun here. Bounce on them all you like, taunting the enemy while moving swiftly ahead towards that top switch; but look out! Danger nears at any given time... Be wary, my friends, for this map is full of recklessness...
Oh wait, no, it's reckless. My bad! I should have known.

Wait what? I was under the impression that, as long as the review stated why, the reviewer could pick anything without discretion.rocket_thumped wrote:Maybe I guess, I already eliminated people on map selection...

It really goes hand in hand. Both the map and the review need to be good. A Featurer can't feature maps just because he likes them, he has to think about what everybody will like. At least, I hope this is what rocket_thumped means.I, SlappyMcGee wrote:Wait what? While that is true to some degree, we do expect there to be a certain level of quality in the maps chosen. You can say it's all subjective, but there is a line that has to be drawn somewhere. Map selection has always been a major criteria in picking new reviewer, and previously for bitesized members.I, SlappyMcGee wrote:Wait what? Jerrod/toasters, why not just impliment these three guys? They seem happy to review. Two reviewers won't do the trick, methinks.

Because two of them suck and I'm guessing one of them is you.Tommy wrote:Jerrod/toasters, why not just impliment these three guys? They seem happy to review. Two reviewers won't do the trick, methinks.
If you are the one that doesn't suck, cool.

I'd have thought the line has to be drawn so far back that it becomes a moot point. Last time I checked "administrator" did not mean someone who dictates a universal level of acceptability to users. Maybe we ought to come up with a definition of "featured map". As the definition is loose enough to apply to varying intentions. In the past there have been a number of maps which have been more about bringing attention to one aspect or another of the author/map than about showcasing the best we have to offer. Perhaps it's time that we all finally made up our minds about what we wanted?rocket_thumped wrote:While that is true to some degree, we do expect there to be a certain level of quality in the maps chosen. P.S. How exactly is an applicant's taste judged anyway? You could easily draw ludicrous conclusions based on the two maps that get submitted for the application, especially when people are reviewing the judge's last submitted map to try and soften them up.

Yeah, that's fine, but this isn't why we have the featured map system.mintnut wrote:In the past there have been a number of maps which have been more about bringing attention to one aspect or another of the author/map than about showcasing the best we have to offer.
I never said anything about judging taste. And I am quite liberal when judging map selection. I just shuffle through and look for red flags where the map is obviously not quality.mintnut wrote:P.S. So, when do we find out who the new reviewers are? I am quite eager to know.
