For me, it's largely determined by thumbnails. Then I look at the author, then comments.

Thumbnails need to be more prominent I think, as I feel people are drawn to a thumbnail when browsing NUMA than they are drawn to certain authors/ratings/comments.

The thing I don't like about thumbnails is the fact that a mapper isn't able to view the thumbnail until they submit it. I know there are ways to do this, but the large majority of mappers don't. So I don't usually place a high priority on them.Manus Australis wrote:Thumbnails need to be more prominent I think, as I feel people are drawn to a thumbnail when browsing NUMA than they are drawn to certain authors/ratings/comments.

right, but if your map is beautiful in fullview then I see no reason why it would look like shit as a thumbnail. :/Life247 wrote:The thing I don't like about thumbnails is the fact that a mapper isn't able to view the thumbnail until they submit it. Ha, how many n-arts have I tricked you into playing then by not tagging it? I'd imagine quite a few.MAXXXON wrote:Also, if it's not an action, I'll almost never play it.

What? It's pretty obvious by the thumbnail whether it's an n-art or not o_Osquibbles wrote:Ha, how many n-arts have I tricked you into playing then by not tagging it? I'd imagine quite a few.MAXXXON wrote:Also, if it's not an action, I'll almost never play it.

That. Although if I see a map that has a great rating I'll check it out to see what's up.Yahoozy wrote:I look at the thumbnail, and then inspect the map in full. I rarely find myself looking at the comments beforehand because I've found that, when it comes to a map, the only really viable conclusion is my own.
