Thumbnails are broken on NUMA and apparently have been for at least 12 hours. Admin fix please?

My guess is we are trying to get Arachnid to use AE's (I think) new thumbnail generator, so that we can stop piggybacking on notdot.net's five-year-old (!) one.

this is highly unlikely seeing as 'we' can't do anything to numa without going through arachnid, who is, as far as i know, nowhere around.
even if this is the case, i'm sure arachnid wouldn't have just plugged it in without testing, nor have overwritten the old generator (
http://www.notdot.net/numa/preview.php ) with the new one
also this has already happened several times before, it's probably got something to do with numa, at the time of map submission, not being able to upload to s3 on account of s3 being temporarily down (? which i doubt, but could be), bucket list still needs to update, image was uploaded but, as seen by the access denied, failed to be set to public. i have absolutely no idea how s3 works and i've only went over it briefly at work a few months ago and never touched it since.
to fix thumbnails, though, you should be able to go to edit your map and resubmit. that should reupload the image. if that doesn't work, try changing a tile, i forget if numa checks for map changes. (all of this, of course, once you see
http://www.notdot.net/numa/preview.php?mapdata=mapdata working)
end :<
=== edit ===
i'm wrong wrong wrong.
all of notdot.net is down. so this means the upload script as linked above cannot be accessed which means BALLS until arachnid's site comes back up. if you are wondering why numa is up and the site (i thought) it was hosted on is not (ps, redirect from notdot to nmaps) is because nmaps is on google's servers. and apparently notdot is not.
notdot is not.read:
NOT DOT IS NOT DOT
.<- dot
anyways, so yeah. it's not up to anything on amazon's end, this is all on whoever's hosting arachnid's personal site.

I'll assume you've emailed arachnid.

so i wrote and set up an alternative thumbnail generator on my private host for you fine fellows. it only fixes the thumbnails, it doesn't let you see the full views of maps.
there might be a delay, but that's to be expected...

Of course they haven't. Not that emailing the guy will do anyone any good...
And thank you sidke, that's good work.

I don't know how true that is. The last time I emailed him, some time earlier this year, his response was fairly quick. It sure as hell beats sitting around hoping sidke can save us.
You should really default to emailing him first rather than posting about it here.

I dunno. I feel like sidke cares more about us. I always feel like I'm bothering Arachnid to go out of his way in order to fix some problem on a site he doesn't have the time to care about anymore.

I mean, that's true, but it doesn't mean that when there's an issue with the site we should ignore him. He's the person to go to first, while we try to find whatever workaround at this end. I don't know why we should disregard the most obvious solution to the problem, which is what arachnid is.

This is true. This is required reading for all NUMAns.

Somebody should make an announcement on the NUMA homepage before everybody decides to freak out.

For the record, I haven't emailed arachnid. So someone probably should if it's not been done yet!

In future, we should probably make sure one person emails him, and just let that person do it. I doubt it helps our cause to flood his inbox with incoherent "numa is hurt somethin fierce" messages.

I spoke to him when he appeared on the forum last to let us know about the API and he told me he'd get on a few minor fixes for NUMA asap. Told me to email him to remind him. I did. Twice. No response and no updates.
Tried again recently and, yet again, no response.
Doesn't mean don't try, if we all bombard him with messages perhaps he'll take note. I just wouldn't hold my breath.

He does check his email...or at least he did at one point some months ago, in my years with the dude he has almost always responded promptly, but give the dude a break, it was 1am his time when I emailed him.

i saw your post, rt, and blackson told me it was breaking as well. not really sure why, as it's still working fine for me.
as for the notdot generator coming back, it seems that it's just doing thumbnails. fullviews are still not being drawn.

The full-views appear to be back up and running.
Just kidding.
