I love it how on this I turned out to be right, yet I still got a lot of shit for suggesting he was a multi-accounter. I mean.. what? Is it illegal to say "It's obvious you're multi-accounting." Anywho, how did he get caught?

Please discuss your thoughts with me :)

Radium, you get shit more for your approach to stuff and general attitude than your opinions.

Also, NUMA admins have their ways and means. They've no need to divulge them to you lesser mortals.

radium, you get... wait, shit, atob just said exactly what i was gonna say.

in the meantime, i agree with you in a lot of stuff like this, but i consider the fact that there's always a chance we're wrong, which means you could cause a lot more harm with a post like yours than the meager gain you get by being right.

I think my caustic behavior should be taken with a grain of salt, atob. It's merely tongue in cheek.

Yanni checked the IPs because both fbf and whatever account it was registered on the forums. they matched.

Wow, that was hard to type out

If you must know, NUMA admin tools are limited. It makes investigating this stuff tricky and divulging any kind of information publicly regarding it will lend to the possibility of other multi accounts slipping through.

That's why I'd prefer it if you guys would keep discussion of this stuff to a minimum. It's a free forum, however, so feel free to ignore that request all you want.

ah. very valid point. so you're saying if you divulge /how/ you investigate, then people will try ways to get around it?

Tongue-in-cheek is fine if you do it well. I don't think you do it all that well. The Admins, past and present, do it well. When they're not supposed to be taken seriously, it's easy enough to tell. You can't convey tone with text, so you have to watch how you say things. In general, whether intended or not, you usually convey a sense of entitlement and/or superiority, which can be aggravating. You claim to be learning from atob, but he tends not to take an attitude until there's a reason to do so. He also has much more reason to feel superior - six-ish years in the community and the title of "most-often-imitated mapmaker ever," among a slew of other things, will justify a little swagger. Some of this may not seem pertinent to the discussion of fireburnsfree, but it's my advice to you as a member. It's a small pond, but you're not a big fish - not yet. You may very well be someday, and then you will have full license to be as abrasive as you please, but until then, be chill. ;)

Case in point: I hope none of the above is misinterpreted...

You guys would be kind to wait until the verdict is confirmed before being rude enough to create a topic in which you discuss me. It has been decided and proven that I did not m.a. so I would appreciate it if you were kinder and less apprehencive.
Thanks

Of course. You're pretty cool most of the time, which is all anyone can aim for, really. I've also looked up to you as a mapmaker for a long time, which can't hurt your case. People have their moments, but that doesn't make them ogres - unless those moments are the good ones, but that's more like a troll, know what I mean? :D

Also, Radium, a final note: Last time you said you wanted to try to be like me. I'll tell you exactly how to do that:

Humility is key. Whether there is evidence to the contrary or not, act as if you are the epitome of mediocrity. You don't need to sound like you have self-esteem issues, but praise should always be a pleasant surprise. Do everything without expecting anything. You don't need to agree with constructive criticism, but you should always welcome and accept it. Ignore the haters when you can, and when you can't, defend yourself sternly, not aggressively. Read each post more than once before you submit. If, upon reflection, you find it doesn't add much, hit the Back button instead. Try to give more compliments than you receive, but always speak from the heart. I'm about to start waxing poetic here, so I'll stop, but you get the idea, no?

Here is my input.

1) Radium, if you have suspicions, PM the admins before you start flinging shit on NUMA.

2) Pheidi is so cute. :3

3) atob is not an ogre D:<

4) Can we get a verdict on whether fireburnsfree did multiaccount or not?

Well, considering the other accounts were his siblings, I would say it makes sense that the IP addresses matched. I believe him :/

The thing is though, there are some inconsistantcies that jump off the page. For example, in IRC, FBF said that his siblings are 16 (sister), 11, and 7. doesnt_matter said he has a brother who is 27.

Radium, basically, you need to work on giving constructive criticism with less cussing. we get all kinds of kids on NUMA, it's supposed to be much more friendly than the forums. i learned that lesson the hard way too.

A few things:

1) fbf has made no mention of his sister, before this incident, within my rather wide range of hearing.

2) NUMA does not have a constitution; fbf is not entitled to a fair trial, contrary to what he seems to think.

3) rocket_thumped's rulebook is a little dusty; in our modern, more permissive age, fbf's fireburnsfree account staying open would be standard procedure.

4) Let's not forget, despite his claims otherwise, that fbf does have a history of multi-accounting, multi-accounting he's admitted himself; see an_icy_inferno.
