Ok I thought we were going to just stop reviews!
There has been heaps of PALEMOON features, 4 hooha features in a row
Couldn't it of been like 5 features a day and only feature 2 maps per author?
I'll make this a poll.
RUINING NUMA!

Which is ridiculous. Are you aware of how much effort goes into that sort of thing? southpaw happens to have put in an incredible amount of time over Christmas to give you guys some good maps to play, and there's certainly nothing wrong with having a week-long event like the one he's organised. But carry on. How exactly is he ruining NUMA? With so many featured maps, you're spoilt for choice? Do you have too many good maps to play? I don't think you've really thought through your argument.

Not only are reviewers allowed to get away with posting spam instead of reviews, but now the Featured List is turning into a super-elitist bitesize NUMA.
Terrazza has a fine point.

Eh, I see where you might come from. The featured maps section still serves as an archive which you can look through later on, but I doubt you intend to use it like that.

AN ESPADA FEATURE?
A SILLY N-ART MAP
My gosh. I think we should stop PALEMOON features atleast. He has about 14.

^^ This is my only problem with it, but it's a big problem, IMO.rocket_thumped wrote:And most of the featured maps are receiving very little attention.
Here's what makes getting a feature special: there's 24 hours for that person's map to shine.
So churning out 15 featured maps per day drastically cuts the attention each map receives, and frankly, only a few people are going to go back and play previously-featured maps. So it devalues featuring, and turns it into a meaningless label. So then, as atob said, you've got some bitesize NUMA stuff going on, where well-known authors rack up these meaningless labels; but also, meanwhile, lesser known authors who long for a feature are getting shortchanged to hell. Well, at least the label looks nice, right?
EDIT: Also, giving a map more time on the front page also allows for bad features to get the negative feedback they deserve. This system obviously circumvents that.

EDIT:
answers to the above posts!
All the reviews are being moderated. Reviewers who do not keep up with quality Reviews will be removed come January. Reviewers who post terrible Reviews by those who are not Reviewers will be removed. I'm not just letting all hell break loose. Anybody who doesn't keep up with the standards for Reviewership will be removed.otter wrote:Not only are reviewers allowed to get away with posting spam instead of reviews, but now the Featured List is turning into a super-elitist bitesize NUMA.
I think the only thing that bothers anybody is that this is not how the Featured Maps section is supposed to work. It's like bitesized, but not anonymous and an explanation (or what should be an explanation) as to why the map has been bitesized. If all you're doing is getting annoyed because we're using the system in a way that it wasn't originally intended to be used then I guess that's yours and some other peoples problem.
I only agree with the last sentence in what issues are being brought up. The first part I think is wholly irrelevant. I feel like these maps were going to be featured anyway. I trust the Reviewers to not feature a map if they don't feel like they have a decent map to feature. That's putting a lot of trust into the Reviewers, sure, but I've known most of you long enough to have that sort of trust. If you would like your feature to be more "valued" then you can Review it in January I guess.drunkgoose wrote:No one map is special because every some what good map is receiving features, it's just racking up stats. That's all. And most of the featured maps are receiving very little attention.

Look, all sarcasm aside, I need to address why you're wrong. It doesn't matter how many features a given author has. He gets them because he makes good maps. Now, to be perfectly honest, I've been featuring some of the PALEMOON maps now because of how ridiculous you're being, but I would've gotten around to them eventually. PALEMOON makes damn good maps, in my opinion, and so I am going to use my powers to give those maps the recognition they deserve. Maybe what you should do is actually play the maps, because that's what they're made for. I'm friends with PALEMOON, but that's not why I feature his work.terrazza wrote:My gosh. I think we should stop PALEMOON features atleast. He has about 14.
So goddammit, maybe you should take advantage of this awesome thing Pawz is doing and try to shed light on some maps you think are overlooked, instead of getting all in a fuss about other people's tastes. Bottom line: The author with a lot of features has them because he makes more exemplary maps then most people.
To the doubters in general: Come on, it's only until New Year's. Don't take everything so seriously.

2) This is seriously the most fun I've ever had on NUMA, ever. :/

other people make really good map. That only have like 1-3 featured maps! Example:
29403- I'm surprised he has no features.
Kablamo_boom- he makes great maps
Unreality (yes that's right, feature one of unreality's maps)
Meta_ing-seriously, feature more of his maps!
OutrightOJ-damn awesome author
there are many more but I'm very tired right now typing all of this on my iPod and just waking up telling you the point.
AND- you said it was only till NYE. It hasn't even been half way and about 30 different maps have been featured.
Oh, and I used to complain about PALEMOON having 5 features. But I was silly then. PALEMOON's features are good (well some) especially urbantagle witch I voted in the dronies.
Now, Southpaw, You mentioned having a break of featuring. Well I voted no but If I Knew we were going to do this, then I would have voted yes. But you mentioned nothing about spamming featured maps.
Leaff, happiest moment because you got a feature?
And yes, I agree ATOB BACK AS ADMIN.
Thank you everyone who thinks we should stop this crisis.

And southpaw, a drunkengoose I may be, but features aren't bitesized maps. If this is how it was 'suppose' to work, it would have been like this from the beginning. But instead bitesizing was halted, and the one feature a day system was created.

I know other people make really good maps. I have featured other authors. But that's entirely beside the point. I show people maps I like by featuring. I like PALEMOON maps. I sometimes go to an author I feel is unappreciated, and I look through his maps. I usually find one worth reviewing. Doesn't mean I always do that, or that it's the only way to do it. The important thing is the maps, though, not the author.terrazza wrote:GLOOMP!!!

I'm missing a point here. The idea is to feature a lot of maps this week. The more, the better, so long as they're all good.AND- you said it was only till NYE. It hasn't even been half way and about 30 different maps have been featured.
Well good for you.Oh, and I used to complain about PALEMOON having 5 features. But I was silly then. PALEMOON's features are good (well some) especially urbantagle witch I voted in the dronies.
Spamming? All of these maps are, I think you'll agree, decent quality. Enough so that it's reasonable someone liked it enough to feature it. If you look at the reviews, you'll notice they are also of decent quality. They aren't great, no, but they're no worse than your everyday serious review. I suppose you think it's "spamming" because there are a lot of them, but that isn't at all the case. Let me say it here: This even is not a free-for-all. If some reviewer is being lazy with his picks and writing, clearly not putting the same amount of effort in he would any other day, there will be consequences. All us reviewers are being held to the same standards as we always were. Honestly. Look through the reviews. Read them. They are fine. If you still hold complaint, it must be with the influx of quality maps. That's quite an odd thing to dislike. Now, Southpaw, You mentioned having a break of featuring. Well I voted no but If I Knew we were going to do this, then I would have voted yes. But you mentioned nothing about spamming featured maps.
Yeah, he's an odd one.Leaff, happiest moment because you got a feature?
I'm pretty sure atob stepped down because he was sick of dealing with the whole sorry mess of NUMA. This is just from memory, terrazza, but I'm pretty sure atob doesn't want his adminship back. Correct me if I'm wrong here, Bracken. And yes, I agree ATOB BACK AS ADMIN.
Crisis? That's an even sillier wrd to use than "spamming." This isn't a "crisis," this is people having some fun on the internet. Let me tell you something you only really learn from time spent here: NUMA isn't affected by this stuff. You seem to think this is some sort of earth-shaking disaster, but as I said right up there, it's just people having fun on the internet. 2010 will arrive, and this thing will end, and people will sort of remember it in the back of their minds sometimes, but it has as little effect on NUMA as any other argument or event. NUMA is an N Maps database, everything else is secondary. Controversies arise, people complain, voices get raised, but none of it matters. Those with enough perspective basically sit back and watch it all float by. Not to say they don't jump in from time to time, but it's always with a rope of Perspective around their waste. You don't have such a rope, terrazza, so you see a change in the routine and get sucked right into the current. I don't.Thank you everyone who thinks we should stop this crisis.
