NUMA skin. Change?

EDIT: You guys don't get me. It's just going to and from the forums, but it doesn't hurt anymore.

I definitely don't think it needs changing. I'm still getting used to it as a change from the one on notdot.net. And the change before that. Blue was so whack, man.

I don't think that it's actually NUMA rather than just your eyes hurting from the computer. I mean NUMA's colours compliment each other quite nicely, and the grey calms it way down. It's probably not NUMA.
I don't think changing it is necessary, I like it. I didn't like it at the beginning, but I got used to it after a week, and the only things that hurt my eyes on NUMA, are really really bad maps. =P

Ok, I get what your saying. Sorry I just had to post it to find an answer.

We've only had the new NUMA skin for about five months. The colour scheme seems fine to me.

I think someone should mock Harmless's skin for the forum as an optional theme. I thought that'd be cool.

Yea, I don't see why there can't be optional themes for NUMA, like there is for the forums. Not that I don't like the current theme, because I do. It'd just be a neat option.

Grey hurts your eyes. Dude, go to an eye doctor.

Definitely no. We just changed it to something amaaaaazing. I don't think think it was meant to be browsed for longer than a short while.
With that said, options would be good, and plus, I thought we were supposed to be getting the option to flip skins there anyway.

No, Araqchnid said right fromt he start "Why make multiple crappy skins, wheny ou can have one 'great' one" Or something along those lines.

Agreed. Though I assume that it'd be pretty difficult, otherwise Arachnid would've been more willing to do it from the start. I don't think the skin is going to change anytime soon.
But, Erik-Player, I understand the phenomenon you're describing. NUMA is fine for me, but some websites (ex:
The Metanet Blog) are particularly bad that way. I'm at a loss as to what to suggest though. Perhaps the contrast on your monitor is up too high? Try reading the Metanet Blog and using the Hermes skin on these forums and see if your eyes get irritated.

Considering the community *voted* for that skin, no. It shouldn't be changed. I also seem to remember arachnid being against multiple skins, but don't take my word for it.

I'm sure if someone took the time to make an incredible new style, including
CSS, images, and compatibility with all major browsers, Arachnid would consider a style switcher. And even if he didn't, any good browser supports user styles, so the user could put it in without the Numa admins even getting involved.
The fact is, making new styles is a big task to undertake, and Arachnid is probably too busy to be helping every new style maker that comes along. Still, like I said, if you make a style, it can be used whether the admins are involved or not. Just don't expect people to bend over backwards here to do unpaid work for you.

By all means correct me if I'm wrong, but were the templates to be almost the same wouldn't the major problem be just changing images throughout the CSS etc?

Don't forget changing every color to fit the images.
I'd just live with it. Maybe someone will come along with a cool, fresh theme for the forums that isn't a huge shock to the eyes when switching from the forum to NUMA. Don't expect that to happen anytime soon though.

I think the skins should be the runner ups to the competition from May (2nd and 3rd place, which, if I recall correctly, were usaswim's and Harmless's other skin), as well as the two old skins (the grey one, and the...blue one?) for those with nostalgia. Of course, the old ones should be modified for featured, Hot Maps, avatars, etc. but I think that that would be something that would satisfy everyone.

Does that mean you're volunteering to do it? Thanks!

Nope. But I'm thinking a coder like Pembie or someone.

The idea behind Pawz' comment was that (I believe) that's a hell of a lot of work to do.

If grey hurts your eyes, you definately need to see a doctor.
And it's nice as is. Comments design ftw.
