Actually, rikaninja, you've made three posts here and not one of them has been relevant to the topic. 'Twould be cool if you stopped that.

I agree. I'd also like to add that new ideas for forum topics are about as non-existent as new map ideas. This topic is good for letting the newbie generation talk about it, just like "new" map ideas are good for:SkyPanda wrote:Hey George, oh we definately don't need the threads, but I think the reason we should let threads like these scooter along is because they:George wrote:Skypanda: The reason we don't any more threads like these is that people are basically repeating the content over and over again. We've already established (long ago) that ratings are an inaccurate way of assessing map quality. Subsequent threads which discuss this are essentially duplicates with new user names.
-open up the issues to modern thought
-allow oldies to lecture and teach the newbies
-let the new generations participate, and come to their own conclusions
But you're alot more experienced here than me so you're probably being practical while i'm being idealistic. :p
- letting a "new generation" person try it out
- keeping the idea alive
- I can't think of a third thing.
I, personally, like ratings because (good) ratings keeps it on the hot maps page, thus more attention; and I, like I am sure is for almost everybody else, want more attention. I want attention mostly for criticism so my next one will be better, or to make sure my current qualities aren't slipping away.
As for fair ratings, the ratings on my maps are generally fair, because for every sniper, I have somebody who rates way too high for my maps *no names mentioned,* so I really don't have a say in the fair rating topic. My better maps are usually rated higher, and visa versa. (this paragraph EDITED because I used way too many pronouns that made the message seem unclear)

I totally agree with this. I do not give a crap if people rate my map or not, or what they rate. although it annoys me when people say what they rated but didn't rate... but that's for a moral reason.
I only click disable ratings when I don't want people to rate it, like when I want to edit it. or when I'm just experimenting and only want ideas/feedback.
