I am getting sick of this shit. Is NUMA now an art gallery? People are now scrambling to pump out NARTS in hopes of accolades such as "5/5 man"

"WOW DUDE 55555555"

I have a map I want to release but I know it will be eclipsed by a zebra.

I'm actually all for a separate Nart gallery page.

People don't tend to be as considerate with their voting of Narts as they do other maps. And as all it takes is a look to decide your vote, they're rated much more than maps (which require multiple plays).

Imo, the best solution is to make the "action NUMA" tag search suggested earlier available as a permenant link on the homepage (ie, -n-art, -nart and -dda tags default)

Many people wouldn't realise the search had been manipulated and wouldn't even know there were Narts and DDAs there. A separate gallery page not only makes a lot of sense, but it would be a much cleaner and efficient solution.

Especially as not all Narts are tagged (and enforcing this would create a lot more work for the staff).

DDAs are fine in the mix, the votes on them these days are just as considered and critical as playable maps.

DDA criticism has gotten tougher, while N-art is still getting constant 5's. But whatever. I rarely look at N-arts anymore.

The fact that many N-Arts stay at the top of the hot maps page for an extended period of time in itself doesn't really bother me all that much, since it's usually only one map at a time. However, I do agree that they are rated unfairly, quantity wise, in comparison with other maps.

This is why I generally don't rate them, unless I'm asked to do so by the author.

They do take a long time to make, and some of them look amazing in the end, so personally, I feel some of them deserve the ratings they get qualtity wise.

I think it should just be N-Arts. I'm a DDA bitch.

Although...it seems we could replace Active Authors with the Action NUMA thing, with the - tags. Mostly because I just clicked on Active Authors and got eight noobs, one N Artist I'm not too fond of, and Meta_Ing.

I suppose it would be difficult to write a script that recognized N-Art object patterns, as well as those N-Art/action maps we all know and hate.

you don't need to apologize for submitting N - Arts to the database. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

My opinion is rather that I appreciate a good n-art...
but they rarely come... there's all this crap out there. I like the idea of getting a separate n-art section...
But people think "the way to get easy fives must be n-art" that's bullcrap. they expect to put in an hours work and get fives, when it's worth 1's and 0's. while I enjoy something that the creator has obviously put in hours and hours to make... these are good and don't come by often.
but there is no need to disable ratings, unless they're crap as.
I put my vote in for N-art page...
I have having to search for 'n-art' all the time.
(also they could have like links to some of the better n-art on a side bar) :D

Rated unfairly? Definetely, but what can we do? Some authors only mak e N-Arts, therefore many great ratings. Unfair;Yes. True;Unfortunately so.

I guess that's just the way it goes ^_&

I figured that people won't be happy till they make an N-art section... even then they may not be.
people bitch about "n-arts hogging the top rateds", "hogging the bitesized maps",
so both of them go then it's
"n-arts stay on hot maps too long" and "n-arts shouldn't be featured"
it's all quite pathetic, especially the hot maps one, i mean how hard is it to scroll down or click 'next page'?

The problem is that they aren't being compared to each other. If you made a very good N-art and submittet it, people will think it good just because it looks nice. If, however, they compared it to jaquar, that awesome thwump/bouncblock N-art, they will think 'Hmm, this looks prettty good, but it's only average in the world of N-art' and that would stabalize it a bit.

Hmmm.

Nmaps.net

I get the feeling this'll get a lot of attention (like 50 ratings, mostly 5s and 4s) even though it doesnt deserve massive fame. If I'm right, points to me. Prove me wrong, please...

I actually agree with you. One way it won't get so many ratings is if the front page gets flooded with maps, but I don't want that to happen considering my map is on the front page as of right now. >_>

Yeah, N-arts get way too many ratings, but we can't change that unless we change how people think (i've tried, trust me)

creating a seperate gallery would be good...ALTARC?
