What im trying to ask is where and how do you get your ideas for maps ... do you base it on a topic or do you plainly pull it out of no where?

I usually play around with tiles, trying to stick to a theme, add some objects, then *bam*, a masterpiece. :P

The tiles are kinda random. So are the objects. Therefore my maps are random.

The titles are usually inspired by songs though.

Most of the time, I randomly, almost splatter, tiles all over, and if there's something particularly nice, I keep it.
When I have a theme in mind, I would just base it off that.
Mines and gold are always random.

I'll generally begin with an idea or a theme, a tile structure, or a play idea, and go from there. Sometimes, though, a certain shape or concept will spark an idea in my mind - And my map names have a LOT to do with the maps.

Mine are pretty sporadic. I just get an idea, and develop on that, keeping the first idea in my head the whole time so that there is a constant theme.

I just mess around with tiles until I find something that suits me.
And to be realy honest, the longest I ever worked on a map was 25 minutes.

Generally some sort of theme or idea I come up with before making the map. Or nothing at all.

a lot of my maps are made with pre-drawn tilesets and based on my emotions and my doings at the moment (school, listening to music, hiding from bullies etc.)
I believe that my maps reflect that
example (made in the middle of a test worth 70% of my science grade)

usually i remember another map, and start from there
or just make random shapes and start from there
or sometimes i actually get an idea for what i want in my head, and those are usually my better maps
