What laptop are you using? the XO-1?
I'm not sure. How do you normally delete, just backspace?

Well, I can only add to the list of impossible ideas you've started there: Reprogram N yourself?

Use a screen keyboard.

Most laptops which lack those keys have an Fn (Function) key which will let you use another part of the keyboard to do that stuff. Does your laptop have an Fn key?

What atilla said, or if you're on Windows go:
(Start)
(All Programs)
(Accessories)
(Ease of Access)
(On-Screen Keyboard)
*Click*

My laptop has Fn, and any key that has Fn function has a orange text under the normal text, like ScrLk. You should be able to use it that way.
