you could start a new account, call it SUPER_COLLAB123 or something, and put all the finished maps on there perhaps.

and so it goes, and so it goes, and so will you soon i suppose.

great minds think alike. I'd love to see this happen, and see who contributes. I'm in like Flynn.

I'll be second, but just to clarify, you'll post a map, and the next-in-line adds a bit and pms you the data? it would make more sense to add it here, to see the progress made.

Here's the play by play:

The map starter, (which will be me the first time around) posts the first part of the map, like this:

Contributor A posts saying he's next, then re-posts the new level data when he's done in the same format, adding his name to the list. Then, COntributor B posts, etc.

***The only time you PM the map data to the map starter is when the potential contributor decides the map is finished.***

If the map is unfinished and still being worked on, the new data is posted here.

If you need ideas as to how to run this thing, check out Jakel's Mission 2.04 on the old forums. This seems like a pretty similar idea. I might participate if this gets going, as Mission 2.04 was pretty fun back in the day.

I kinda figured something like this has been done before. Thanks for the link.

Fortunately, this is a bit different. Unlike Mission 2.04, there are no teams. There is only one map being actively worked on at a time, and anyone can contribute.

Hmmmmm

I'll go second, unless those who have posted to join this want to.

If we get a few more people to express some interest, I'll post the starter map.
Also: you can contribute more than once on a single map, but you can't go twice in a row. (duh)

have dibs started yet? i'd like to get in line for contributions once you get the map started.

by the way, should there be any terms like "no deleting ideas" or "one item at a time"? i think it would definately be a good thing to clarify that there are going to be a lot of people working on a single map, so minimalism in additions is advised. assuming that is the case.

Ah, but that's just it. There is no signup. This'll kinda work like the 'edit the box' game on the old forums, in that there is no structured list somewhere written in stone that states the exact order of contributors. If you notice that no one has called dibs, jump in and participate.

These two points were in the 'things to remember' part of my first post. Is this what you mean?
• DO NOT alter what is already in the map, you are simply adding on to it.
• Don't hog the map. There's only so much space, give others a chance. (On the flip side, don't just add a single mine or something)

You're right though, minimalism (in terms of your particular addition) is key.

I suppose I'll start this off then. Since I'm starting the map, I'll post it when it's finished.

FIRST MAP:
Remember, the point of this is to have fun, and to see what kind of maps we can make.

Map Name: "The Melting Pot" Contributors: heatwave21, Daikenkai,

can we keep the title out? It was weird with the editor.
And I didn't put any enemies because I wasn't sure where this would go.

From now on, edit your dibs post when you post your contribution. It'll get pretty confusing if you post dibs, and then someone posts dibs after you, and then you post the new data after that.

No more dibs until that list plays through.
