Should I Submit This To NUMA Thread

I wanted to create a series of maps where the level itself is like a huge enemy you battle. This map is difficult but there is a groove to it. A couple parts will take some practice. There are multiple approaches and a couple optional goals with special rewards. Getting all the gold is tough, but I feel the placement is reasonable.
e: here's a revision with a more strategic gold placement and changed a couple other small details.
e: submitted

There's a bit delay on the rocket (I guess there's nothing to do 'bout that) which makes it a bit hard to manouver. Sometimes the rocket doesn't shoot (probably because the ninjas position is blocked) but maybe you could see if there are more grey area that you could make into fake tiles.chume14 wrote:Ok this ones a bit bizarre I've created a concept map but it has some issues and it hard to make it work if your willing to try it make sure you read the instructions
Instructions
1 Open ned and press h (load full map)
2 Post this map data
3 Press p to play
4 You are a rocket hold left to turn clockwise right to turn anti-clockwise
5 just fly around and stuff there is no aim yet
If you give me feedback I'll rce 3 maps on numa (bribes) please be sure to follow instructions
I think it could be cool with a maze (maybe even made of fake tiles so the rocket doesn't die from hitting the walls) :)

Very good gold placement as well as use of gausses. I like how the "steps" vary in width. The only part I have a beef about is the far left. The tunnel is too narrow, in my opinion, for a gauss to be used. The tunnel should be widened, or the gauss removed, and you're good to go.natrues peril wrote:is it worth submiting this
The map I'm a bit concerned with is a result of my poorly timed mapper's block. I'm convinced the gameplay is jim-dandy, for a map this simple, but I'm concerned about the aesthetics and gold placement. I would really apreciate advice as a first-time poster here.
screw it.

No it's not. That's like saying "Don't run because you can't think of anything better." The more maps one makes the better they get, overall. This is a fact as old as N v1.0. It doesn't matter if it's bad, (just like it doesn't matter if it was only around the block) the important thing is to do it. Mapping isn't like riding a bicycle. You get rusty at it if you don't map for awhile. Believe me, I know. A good mapping habit starts with doing it when you're bored. Mapmaking doesn't have to be an event. Ideally, in my mind, mapping becomes just a natural part of your computer experience. A really promising mapmaker has NED open, map partway to completion, in the background while he engages with the community in general, through the forums, et al. So, basically, yes, do whip up maps when you're bored. Or any other time. Make maps whenever you goddamned feel like it, is what I'm saying.bobaga_fett wrote:good advicenicoguerreronico wrote:Don't "Whip up maps" when your bored.
Afterword to that little rant, I haven't even seen the map nicoguerreronico is responding to. All this is entirely based on theory. Whether or not you Should Submit that To NUMA Thread is a whole other matter, but you probably shouldn't because it's terrible. :p

@Rhekatou; definitely a great map! Submit away.
So without further ado, a map with a hexagonal concept I'd been playing with this past weekend. I find the rockets surprisingly effective. Maybe I should tone them down?
EDIT: Submitting anyway since it looks like nobody's touched this thread in a month.

I moved around some gold here, and I think it might be an improvement, but I'm leaving the mines to you.
I made a couple maps today, but I'll start with only one. I haven't decided on a name yet, but what do you think of it?

I was originally going to complain about the thwump as well, but then realized that it could be quite interesting with a couple slight modifications. Try getting trapped above the thwump in this version:
It may be a little harder than you intended, but I don't think it's too hard. Here's a sample AGD:

Just so you know this is for you; oxidizaoxidiza wrote:This seems a little better, i didnt like that trap door blocking the one way platform so I took it out. I moved the bottom launch pads and other wise. I think it very close to submission. Any other help would be greatly appreciated!!
I'm not a big fan of how it looks, the tiles are a bit generic and sloppy. However, once I start playing I enjoyed it a lot. The bounceblocks work great and so do the gausses. The gold is fun to collect and the thwump is a nice touch. Maybe place the bottom launch pads a bit higher so you won't hit them on the way to the switch as I did. But it's not necessary since this way you just have to be a bit more careful.
So, even though it's a bit unpolished and not the best looking map ever, it plays very well and it's entertaining to the last bit. There was nothing that annoyed me even a bit. Neither did those bottom launch pads just so you know. I would surely rate this 4. Next time try to make your map look a bit better. Or not it's really up to you and it's just my taste, others might love this style. I'm rambling on and on, but it's a great map. Good job.
EDIT: I'm sorry I don't have a map, next person can either give feedback to oxidiza or post his own map, you don't have to look up one of mine or something like that. ;)
ANOTHER EDIT: The version you have now is already a huge improvement over V1 ^^

Sorry for the double post but people here missed this map, all I have to say is that it plays great and is not too hard at all. But it could look a bit better. It's ready to go on to NUMA though ;)lactose3 wrote:@DarkN; it's all right, but far too long and drawn out. Give it more work, I think
