Why do you think N dies when he falls from a high place?

LV got most of it. It is definitely the speed/acceleration/velocity. That is why you don't die from a slope, because about 50% (on a 1 tile) is transmutated into sideways speed. That is why if you hit a slope facing it, you can often die. You die from a trampoline facing downwards (from a bit of height) is because you get set to a faster speed and the 9.8 m/s (does N use that?) accumulated kills you when you hit the ground. However, if the tramp is close to the ground, it resets your speed to 0, then sends you in the direction as powerful as the trampoline is set to be. Close to the ground, it isn't powerful enough to kill you unless it is so close to a tile that it shoots you into the tile, killing you by squishing you into a solid object.
Lightning is power, you know, the thing that powers the machine you're on.
