If you do the exact opposite of an addition/subtraction problem, both problems will be exactly opposite. But if you do the exact opposite of a multiplication/division problem, the answers will be the same. Example:

7+7=14 is the opposite of (-7)+(-7)=-14

7-7=0 is the opposite of (-7)-(-7)=0

But

7x7=49 when the opposite is (-7)x(-7)=49
