Announcement
This is the final week of Season 2 of the Sig of the Week contest.
I'm happy to announce that it all ran fairly smoothly throughout the whole thing (even a forum change can't harm this contest). I am happy overall to see the creativity that everybody put into their sigs. I'm especially happy to see a birth of new imagers that range all different styles and yet can all create something unique with what they have at their disposal.
With that said, there are a couple people I'd like to thank.
Lenny, though you weren't the best image maker, you did help me fabricate some new rules for SOTW, which weren't really all that important but you pushed me to do so anyway. So thanks, I guess :P
To those on IRC and Vent who helped to choose a winner when there was a tie for first place. You guys did your job well and it's good to have a community that you can go to for immediate service.
To those who participated in the SOTW - This contest runs on entrants. We have seen 10 entries from Week 7; we have seen 2 entries from Week 4. We've had amateur imagers and elite imagers battling head-to-head... and the elite did not always win. I think that says something about how creative new imagers can be.

I'm glad to have successfully completed a second season with you all and hopefully Season 3 will be here before you know it!
-southpaw-

Themes for Season 2
Week 1 - Fonts/Text

This week we are focusing on Fonts and Text. This is fairly open ended in that you have to make a sig that incorporates some kind of text, but trying to find the correct font for the type of sig you make is much harder. Pulling off the right font can be a challenge, but if you do it well I'm sure it will pay off in the end. Good luck!

Week 2 - Earth

This week is all about Earth. Don't jump to conclusions about what you have to make. There are so many different meanings and ideas that come when one thinks of the word Earth it's overwhelming. Use your imagination and don't create the very first thing that comes to your head. Good luck!

Week 3 - Comic Book Characters

Welcome to Week 3! We'll be focusing on Comic Book Characters this week and I hope to see quite a bit of talent coming out of this one. We all have our favourite comic book characters even if we have never read the comics that correspond with the character, or read a comic that not a lot of people of our generation have heard of but had a character you easily identified with. Though the theme itself isn't very interpretive the amount of things you can do with it are broad. That's what I hope to see this week. A broad spectrum of heroes or villains, with or without superpowers. Good luck and can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Week 4 - Water

The theme this week is water and by that I mean all sorts of things. Water has many properties and hopefully one of them will spark your attention enough to create something new and different. For instance, water encompasses all 3 states of matter: solid, liquid and gas. It nourishes life and can destroy entire cities. It can hold an immense amount of heat or radiate freezing temperatures.
Whatever your theme is for Water, I hope you do the best you can. Good luck!

Week 5 - Biology

Welcome to Week 5. I was a little disappointed with the turnout from last week, as only 2 artists entered and they were both newcomers. But I hope this week gives a lot of potential turnout, as I think biology has many cool aspects and pictures I'm sure you could find to tweak and make them look cooler. For this week I don't care what kind of sig you give me as long as it relates to ONE OF THE MANY DIFFERENT KINDS OF BIOLOGY. Research biology a little bit to help give you an idea of what you would like to do. Good luck, and I hope to see a lot of entries (good or bad) from all of you this week!

Week 6 - Warhol-esque

Week 6 brings the famous art renderings of Andy Warhol. He is, and continues to be, one of my favourite artists and it is because of this that I want to see what you all can do with his style, yet still add in a drop or two of your own. Please look up his work on Google or some other image search engine so that you can get the color style down correctly. Also, this week ONLY if I happen to receive 5 or more entries I will be doubling everybody's points received for the week. This means a big boost into the lead could be made by one of our imagers here, or it could mean no hope for the rest of us. Either way, good luck to you all and I hope to see many entries this week!

Week 7 - NINJAS!

Week 7 brings the stealth, speed, agility and overall bad-assness of ninjas. Whether you're an innocent bystander or an evil, magic-wielding demon bent on taking over the world, ninja's are usually somewhere close by, making sure you don't step too far out of line.
Make an image with a ninja. That's all I ask.

Week 8 - Inked

When I was creating my latest sig for Jiggerjaw I thought about what the next theme for SOTW should be. It's quite remarkable when one comes up with a theme because when I think it's a great theme that many people will participate in, nobody does, while the themes that are lackluster to me a bunch of people submit.
Thus, Inked is the theme for this week and although it doesn't make me jump for joy at thinking of it, I do think it will attract a large crowd. Things that I will be accepting for this week include:
Grafitti sigs, tattoo sigs, ink drawing sigs, hand-drawn sigs, etc. Anything having to do with being Inked.
Happy imaging!

Week 9 |FINAL WEEK| - Emoticons

I was having some trouble coming up with a theme for the final week. See, before this whole contest started I had come up with 9 themes I thought would be perfect. But as the contest played out I realized some themes would be boring and others were too confusing. Emoticons seem so perfect now, I'm surprised I didn't think of them earlier.
Include one or more emoticons in your sig. If your emoticon is phallic or I can't tell what it is I will ask that you do another sig.
If you want inspiration, check out behappy's sig or my sig (recently made by maestro!).
Good luck to you all and thank you for participating in Season 2 of the Sig of the Week contest!

---

Welcome to Season 2 of the Sig of the Week (SOTW) contest! Last season you guys exhibited great skill and a great amount of improvement in all your images. This season I'm proud to see a handful of new imagers and a lot of the old veterans hanging around. Hopefully you all take interest in this and make this season bigger and better than the last. Make sure to read all of the rules and have fun!

---

Point System
1st - 5 points
2nd - 4 points
3rd - 3 points
4th - 2 points
5th - 1 point
everyone else gets no points.

---

The Rules
1. PM your entries each week to southpaw with either a direct link to the image or the image itself. Only one entry per person.

2. You must have created the signature yourself. No stealing. If you think someone has stolen someone else's signature, PM me with your complaint, be sure to give me a link.

3. You must follow the theme for the week. No exceptions.

4. Your signature must not be any bigger than 600 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall.

5. You cannot switch or substitute your signatures after they have been submitted.

6. All tie-breakers will be decided by three random users on IRC. If they entered a signature and it just so happens to tie, someone else will be substituted in their place to vote.

7. Your signature must be in by Wednesday of that week. No exceptions.

8. Previously made signatures will not be allowed.

9. Advertising of any kind is not allowed. Period. The only exception is if the theme of the week has something to do with advertising.

10. You may not post the signature image you have made for the current week in your own signature that appears at the bottom of your posts. You may, however, post the signature image you have made for the current week within your own image thread. If you post the image in other people's image threads your signature will not be included for voting at the end of the week.

11. VIOLATION OF THESE RULES MAY RESULT IN A BAN FROM COMPETING FOR ONE OR MORE WEEKS AT SOUTHPAW's DISCRETION

---

I will be keeping a list of each persons scores for the past week and the month. Every month a person will be recognized as the winner of that month, as well as earn a free signature OR a dedication map. An overall score sheet will be compiled so that everybody can see how many points they have accumulated per week. The total scores at the end of the month will be posted as well. Good luck and have fun.

yours is technically still submitted, but you might want to resend it to me on these forums so I don't have to check the old forums when I set up the poll.
Or I will allow you to resubmit, as it's been over a month since the last SOTW, and you might have some fresh ideas.
