Year 12 Art
Condog
Over the last year of highschool, for Art, we were required to follow a theme for our work and create pieces of worked related to that theme. I chose Optical Illusions, which I then expanded in Perception to give me more freedom to work within the theme. I finish with four finished pieces of work, some of which I spent a lot more time on than others. In addition, I also have a piece from the previous year which i'm rather proud of.

Now to apply for courses at RMIT (university), I need to create a portfolio including up to 12 images of my best work. This can include any 2D, 3D, photos, graphics, drawings, etc. I would like your opinions regarding which of my pieces I should include.

Also, sorry for the bad quality pics. I'll try to get some better ones on Monday. And i've linked to the images because they are very, very big, and it is better for all concerned this way.

====2007====
=Impossible Triangles=
Card and oil paint on card. The triangles cannot possibly exist. Inspired by Escher's triangles, and the many other versions of them. One 1st place in an Art competition.

See how tiny they get?

====2008====
=In the Eye of the Beholder=
Pencil on Paper. Looks like the canvas has been torn. Took aaaages to do, but it was worth it.

I see you...

=Duality (Evil in Good / False but True)=
Card and marker on card. Has two pictures which can only been seen from an angle, each of which have two words contained in them. Note :: I didn't create the illusions in this myself.

This statement is false...

=Reality=
Card and paint. When you look through from the front, you can see the word 'reality'. I spent the least time on this one. Looks better in 3D, i need more pics of this. The white patchs were supposed to line up with the gaps...

It's what you make it.

=Cafe Wall Illusion=
Paint on MDF. Meant to look like this, but it didn't quite turn out how I hoped. It's very big, and very heavy, and it it looks way better from further away, or in a small image. I don't like it that much after all. But I suppose I can just make up some symbolic stuff for it. Reeeeaelly need better pics of this one. I was actually considering smashing it up and calling it 'Broken Dreams' or something. That would be fun.

It symbolises, the uh... the global economic crisis? The war in Iraq? The plight of the everyman? Fuck, I don't know. Just leave me alone.

Any and all comments, critique, feedback, etc would be greatly appreciated. :D

Reality and Duality are badass.
The others are good as well but don't seem so creative or at least don't have some cool little trick that isn't apparent at first.

I assume there are more. But Reality and Duality would be the two so far that I would send in for your portfolio.

Wow. I just love looking at the impossible triangle painting, with all of the colors and shapes. It looks great. The others were alright, but overall I'm the most impressed with the first painting.

That is pretty much how I felt. I loved Duality.
