I'm really liking it now. I'll keep it as my sig for a little while.

heh, I think you should try out the following things:

1. Experiment with colors. There is nothing better than knowing when and how to use color in your images. Whether or not you're comfortable with using 4 or more colors in a sig isn't the issue. Learning how to break out of what you're comfortable doing is what is. Because you won't forget how to do stuff you already know, but you'll learn how to do stuff you don't.

2. I don't know what program you're using, but it looks like you're doing a lot of experimenting with lighting and such. Filters are my best friend, and I'm sure other imagers would agree that they play a large role in their imaging. Practice using single filters on single objects to begin with, and then practice mixing two filters to create an effect you wouldn't have been able to achieve before.

3. Themes. It's good to have a central idea around your signatures, even if it's just simply "abstract." Finding what themes your good at is fun. (such as T3chno being good with Comic Book Character sigs)

I don't know if any of that is specific enough to help, but it is something that is good to keep in mind. Hope to see more experimental stuff from ya!

the smudging in be_happy's sig detracts from the pixel feeling. I think it would have looked much nicer if it was not smudged.

Also, don't go crazy with blur! You can ruin a sig with the blur effect, so only use it if you feel like it's extremely important. For the render sigs, try using outer glows with modes such as "pin light" or "color dodge" as these tend to blend the render better without compromising clarity.

southpaw knows what he's talking about.

A word on blur:
It's a great tool. But there are two things I do to restrict myself on it:
1. I only use it for depth. You know, to show things are far away or close. That adds a whole new level to you sig.
2. The second is that I create a new layer, apply image. Then I run a Gaussian Blur on it - usually about 4-10. It depends on the amount of effect you want. I set the layer on overlay and mess with the settings. It gives you vibrant colors. But also note, the technique backfires often, especially in sigs with multiple colors in a small area. You get mixed colors. Use with caution.
