WAIT... ZOMGOMGOMGM CS4 is up on trial. I'll have to ask my cousin to get it. :D
I'm guessing you downloaded that one.
I say 1 GB is a minimum. 512 is definitely not enough. 2 is average now, I guess.Windows

* 512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
* 1GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on flash-based storage devices)
* 1,024x768 display (1,280x800 recommended) with 16-bit video card
* Some GPU-accelerated features require graphics support for Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0
* DVD-ROM drive
* QuickTime 7.2 software required for multimedia features
* Broadband Internet connection required for online services*

If you don't have Service Pack 2 (which it sounds like you don't) then your computer won't be able to run Photoshop.Geekhead wrote:i have windows XP, so about 4,5 years maybe?
Delete Photoshop from your computer by doing:
Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
click on Photoshop and choose "Uninstall" and follow the steps until it says that the program has been uninstalled. Try the download again and this time watch for the error message and anything that might say "more details" or something along those lines and then give us the information.
As of right now nobody can really help you without that information.
EDIT: Or it may just be your system requirements, which you could find by doing:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information
But I don't know if you want to keep that private. If you do decide not to share you system info with us then just compare T3chno's post with your system requirements and see what may be lacking.

the computer wouldn't turn on or off, even if you would do that hold down the power button thing, so we had to unplug it than it finally shut down 10 minutes after that, than to get past the startup screen, i kept haing to press the standby button on the keyboard! than it was still slow after that, until we killed it.maestro wrote:I have to ask, what on earth do you mean by "than it collided with another program and nearly killed my computer"?

cause program collisions don't do stuff like that.
infact...they don't really happen, so it sounds like you got a broken copy...

because software issues JUST DON'T DO THAT TO A COMPUTER!
That is SERIOUS OS corruption.

heh, except you can't save anything. I had a trial of Photoshop a while back and I had to Print Screen and then paste it into Paint to save anything that I did.LittleViking wrote:It's a trial. Any time you install Photoshop without entering a product key, it starts a 30-day trial of the full program.

get a screenshot of what happens when you start it, if anything visual happens. it sounds like a pretty badly corrupted version if it broke your computer so bad a hardware shutdown didnt work. this wouldnt be an application "collision" as that doesnt really make any sense. having GIMP or any program installed wouldnt matter, thats not how programs work (unless they are say, an expansion pack that requires another program to function, but that is a different case from the one we have here.
does something photoshopesque open, or does the computer just crash?
also get us some system specs please.
