Week 2: Wild West
Gentlemen, gather up your ponies and saddle up for round two! Put on your silver spurs and get your gunslingin' cowboy face on. Make a signature based around anything related to the wild west we all know and love, from cowboys to ghost towns, Clint Eastwood to tumbleweeds, the possibilities are endless! Have a great Western-related stock image and wondering when to use it? Now is the time! I hope to see some great images this week.

Deadline for signatures is June 14th, 2010 11:59:59. Plenty of time to rustle up a sig. Get to work.

I think Clint Eastwood and tumbleweeds are genetically similar, so I'm unsure if comparing the two is very practical.

Week #3: Patterns
ImageImageImageImage
Ladies and gentlemen, this week we have a technique rarely used, and one of the most underrated effects ever: patterns. Just take a blank canvas an dump a pattern on it and submit it? Hell no, get more creative than that. Make a regular sig and overlay a pattern on it? It works, but it ain't always pretty. Try to involve some patterns in some creative ways!
For I have another request in this week's challenge. When you send me your sig, also link me to the pattern you used. Voters will be able to see the pattern you used and use it to judge your submission. Nevermind.
Oh what? You don't know where to get patterns? Fear not! Check out ColourLover's pattern selections. They have a seemingly endless supply of them. But I'm not restricting this to one site alone, you can excavate the interweb for any pattern. Other sites like DeviantART and Brusheezy come to mind. Oh, and if you're having trouble downloading the pattern on CoulourLover, do the following: Find the pattern of your desiring, then look in the panel to the right. It should have a link to several dimension sizes of the pattern (they'll be watermarked). However, to get the pattern, click the link that says "Preview."
If you guys ever need any help with this one, I'm available on the IRC or via PM most of the time. I know this is a tough week, but I expect some unique sigs this time around!

Deadline is not every Monday now, but determined by me everyweek.
So for Week #3, deadline is June 26th 11:59:59 PM (PST).

Week 4 :: Drugs
This week's theme was hinted on the IRC last week, specifically alcohol. But I've decided to make this more broad however. It's pretty open, make one about a certain drug, collection of 'em, or make a sig while /under the influence/ of one. Something trippy, or hell, even a public service announcement sig would work. Get to it.

I incidentally just made a really trippy sig. But I can't use that for the contest... this should be fun, however!

Is a sig depicting something you would do on drugs be acceptable, because assuming that it is, I just made one of a chick vaccuming a desert.

Why just web designs? Can't take some time aside to make a sig?

Techno, you need to get this shit rolling. If you're having trouble coming up with ideas I can shoot a couple your way but I was a week from finishing all the other seasons of SOTW (other than the last one) by the time you managed to get the voting thread up for Week 4.

Two weeks per round is far too long IMO.

Yeah, it should never have more than a week off unless you're going away for vacation/college midterm/finals, etc. I'm getting impatient for the next one.

Sorry for the delay, guys. I've had a busy week and been unable to really do anything important (new computer, been toying around with it, as well as some college business).

Sorry, southpaw, for the 2 week thing. This contest needs more organization than I thought. I'll squeeze stuff into one week now. I'll hit you up on the IRC for theme ideas the next chance I get.

Okay, SOTW stuff.
-------
Week 4 Results
southpaw +5
capt_weasel +4
squibbles +3*
Uzi +2*
SlappyMcGee +1

Tie-breaker decided on IRC.
I'll update the overall standings now.

Week #5 :: Freestyle.
There's usually one every season of SOTW. No requirements on this week. Do whatever you feel like. My only request is that it follow the contest regulations, as well as forum requirements. I hope to see some unique stuff.

I would totally be winning now.

Week 6 :: CAVERNS.

Theme idea courtesy of our very gloomp. That's right. Caverns. Try to make that sig with the /perfect/ atmosphere. Does it have to be a stock image of a cave? No, of course not. Go and do something that no one else will. Good luck to you all. Hope to see more than three entries this time around!

This needs to be better advertised, the banners for each round are better than the sigs that get entered. I especially love the patterns banner; it's a lovely sig.

Also, I have to blame myself mostly for the lack of participation recently. I made the "weeks" too long and the contest suffered because of it. This contest require more organization than I thought, but oh well. I still hope to finish this season. No way am I cutting it short.

ahahHAHahaHAhahaHaHahahahAAHaHahaAHA

I told you it was a lot of work! :P

Anyway, it's not your fault, Techno. I'm digging all the themes so far, brilliant ideas I think. Hopefully I can find some time to make a sig for this week.

edit: Not your fault about lack of participation. There is usually some sort of lull in this contest. SOTW 3 should not be used as an example of participation at all. SOTW I and II both had their dips in entries around the 4th to 7th week.
