I'm sorry, but I don't get how the top one can get 4 votes? (No offence to the maker)

It's just a large image cropped to a respective size, with no other effort added. :S

(Voted for Hitman)

The top is a neat image, but I don't like it as a sig. Wallpaper, sure.

I think, if I tired, I could guess who made each sig. :3 A couple I'm not sure of, though.

MY VOTE IS HIDDEN.

Top one. Regardless of the work done, I think it's the best one where a vertical signature flkatters the subject. Although hitman was close. I voted for boxman just to be poignant.

I would've picked the first one also, but seeing as it's the clear winner at this point, I chose to help distinguish the rest of the top four somewhat and voted for my second choice, the astronaut.

You know, this is kinda ridiculous, because I fail to see how a cropped image can score higher than any other signature here, all of which have had effort added to them, taken time to create, and actually show Photoshop creative skills, rather than how well someone can drag lines and hit enter to change the size of it...

EDIT: It may make use of the vertical space well yes, but it isn't a signature that's been produced properly...

Yet it's still winning. This contest isn't about showing prowess in photoshop, it's about making a sig that conforms to the weekly theme. Whoever made that image did everything he needed to.

And by "produced properly" you mean spending hours overcomplicating an incredible stock?

I hardly ever do anything to my stocks other than text, borders, and lightning tweaking. Yet I'm in this final too. Maybe there's more to aesthetics than the time put into something...

Yeah, I didn't mean overcomplicating, I meant the sort of things that are used to make a signature a signature. The added effects, the bordering, the text. You know, to make it look and feel like a signature rather than a general image.

Get what I'm saying?

I'm with chase on this one, I find it depressing that the signatures that people have spent ages working on, and perfecting, thinking about each little detail, as well as the overall effect, have been submited, only to have a stolen and cropped signature top the leaderboard. ah well..

wait... wasn't one of the rules that signatures had to be original work? Is cropping a wallpaper to fit the dimensions original?
might want to think 'bout that.

Is going on Google and finding a stock and messing with the lightning of the photograph really that much different? Sure, the wallpaper image isn't as tweaked as some of the other signatures here. I feel that if another of us had found the image we would have cropped it similarly and maybe messed with the lighting, brightness/contrast and possibly the colours a little bit, but not much. Yes, it would give it a bit of a different feel but the idea is the same.

I wholeheartedly agree with the majority in this thread, that cropping the image is dumb and a cop out from the main point of this contest. It's about how well you can modify an image to produce an interesting effect or an abstract thought. Unfortunately cropping an original stock is part of that effect and so I can't deny the entry.

5 sigs made it in to the final round from being tied. The final voting thread will go up now.
