I'll still post polls to get an idea of what my finalized card should be, or certain options pertaining to them (color, etc.) but here is where all of the final designs and initial concept cards will be going. I want to personally design all 52 cards, with the face cards being something a little more special...

So to begin here is the first concept card for the Jokers, though I know this one is lacking, but I like the general idea.

I think the corners of the cards need to be rounded though.

Heh.

Here is the "dirty" (messy) version of the 2 of Hearts:

EDIT: Also, here is another concept card for the Jokers

Incredible designs. It would be awesome if these were printed as actual playing cards.

I actually might try to once I finish the design for all of the cards, but I'll only buy like 5 or 6 decks because the price for a fully customized deck is pretty steep.

Six of Hearts template complete! Let me know what you think.

Image

EDIT: I just realized the pips in the corner should represent only one number, not the double-sided version. WIll fix soon.

Not a big fan of the six. It isn't distinctive enough, it looks more like a zero.

As Condog has said, not distinct enough, and I was hoping you'd be able to keep with the double symbol for evens and single symbol for odds.

Unless you're trying to avoid having the card look like it's saying 69, I'd suggest redoing this one completely.

Possibly mirror them like in this picture, with stylish underlines to show that they are 6's.

Or something sort of like this. I thought the lines would help incorporate them in with the rest of the numbers which seem to have strong bold lines running through them. The 9's could be designed the same way, just upside down.

So far I'm loving these, in particular I think the original joker design is brilliant. One possibility for the six could be something like this quick image I threw together. It might be too ambiguous in the center whether it's for the nine or six but I don't think it's too bad. (I know it looks horrible, this was done in about two seconds)

I had a great idea from that sketch though.
Since you're trying to stay away from 69 why not make it 96 so that the upside down 6 is at the top? That way you can still get the dual symbols going without having 69 be the thing you see at first glance.

Possible alternative for the six as well as the basic design for the seven. Also, I can't seem to get away with a number popping out (69 or 96) or having to resort to using the lines to tell them apart, which I think detracts from the overall look.
